A long, long time ago, Nationstates didn't have a World Assembly. We had a United Nations, complete with UN emblem and all. Apparently the real UN took offense to this, and a lawyer sent Max a very unhappy cease-and-desist. Fortunately, we had a couple of months in which to comply, so we decided to use it for April Fools that year. Thus, the NSUN was replaced with the WA on April 1st, to the expected skepticism because wow, you'd think the IRL UN would have better things to do with their time or something. Fast forward to April 2... (Also, Max's blog post about the entire thing is pretty amusing, too!)

My favourite was splitting the boards into Liberal and Conservative.. the great Haiku thread arose from that.

Anyway.. it's April Fool's here and I see nothing.. NOTHING!

The "hidden" joke where we were allowed to be mods and use the warn tags though... that is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we'll never experience again (until the NS forums get replaced with Jolt 2.0)...

Thing is, April Fools events usually start earlier than that (also I don't think the servers are based in the US West Coast plus Max Barry himself is from Aussieland and the staff is global) in satiate the unending desires of the people in the wrong hemisphere.
