Question about nation names

Postby IAnon » Tue Jan 16, 2018 4:00 pm

I think this is where this post should go.

Why must names begin capitalized? My name could be called, "IaNoN" or "IANoN" but not "iAnon."

Because that’s how titles work. The first letter is always capitalized

My opinions do not represent any NS governments I may happen to be in (yeah right), any RL governments I may happen to be in (yeah right), the CIA, the NSA, the FBI. the Freemasons, the Illuminati, Opus Dei, the Knights Templar, the Organization for the Advancement of Cultural Marxism, Opus Dei, or any other organization. Unless I say they do, in which case, there is a nonzero chance.

That doesn't seem a compelling reason to keep it that way though.

Not to mention the iphone, ipod, ipad, iOS, among other things. That's what my nation is about, it's a tech corporation, and I'd like it to follow a similar format. If that's not possible, that's fine. I'd just like some confirmation of that from a programmer or something.

Question about nation names

Postby Parhe » Thu Jan 18, 2018 1:21 am

I was told it was to prevent people from making new nations to masquerade as other nations. Or so I was told when I complained about my puppet ICountry. Same reason you cannot change the order of titles on your page.
Hey, it is Parhe :D I am always open to telegrams.
I know it is a Work-In-Progress, but I would love it if y'all looked at my new factbook and gave me some feedback!

But let's say I wanted to impersonate you.

PArhe
PaRhe
ParHe
ParhE
PaRhE

That can be done whether the first letter is capitalized or not.
pArhe

Not being allowed to capitalize the first letter is hardly impersonation deterrent.

I wouldn't impersonate anyone if I were you. You could get your nations deleted at least, and at most be declared Delete on Sight (DOS).

And I just checked my trying to make a nation: capitalization has no impact on the availability of a nation name.

"Parhe" is taking. Which means that "ParhE" is taking. If people are worried about lower casing the first letter to impersonate, wouldn't it be better to do it that way instead? That way names like, "pArhe" can't be made (which protects you from impersonation) but allowing names like "iAnon" (which gives tech nations the ability to represent that characteristic in their name.)

I never said I wanted too. I want to lower case my first letter to be "iAnon" but I can't because, allegedly, it's suppose to help prevent impersonation. All I was saying is that was bupkus.

All those names are not possible, regardless, since "parhe" is taken, regardless of string. However, I could easily use a lowercase "L" in place of an "I."

it was not always as it is now. before, nations could be created beginning with lower case characters, and some remain today, I think, although I can't remember their names.
Ransium wrote:It’s just a technical thing. Admin is planning on changing this in some undetermined time in the future

that would be good. ideally nations should always be created with Capital as they are now, but should be able to make it lower case when editing their name imo.
