We already know that gameside is not responding/super laggy right now.
No, we don't know why right now.
Yes, the techies are already aware of this and are looking into it.
More info to be added once we've got anything to share.

And we're back! From what was said in modchat, the server was "non-responsive," but it seems like some IT magic prodded it back into motion.

So, current understanding of the problem is that the crash was caused by the GA resolution, which for reasons currently unknown is not processing properly. Techies still chewing on it, no word yet on the status of the update tonight.

Just got this telegram from the Compliance Commission:
Laws have been enacted to bring Greater Hastings into compliance with the World Assembly resolution Enabling The Disabled In Academia.

It looks like the servers have finally succeeded in their mission to actually start the update.

Should be all fixed now.

The WA server got hung up trying to send a notification telegram after processing the new resolution: It sent this to the Telegram manager, and the Telegram manager queried the WA server for a list of WA members so it knew who to address the telegram to, and the WA server wasn't answering because it was waiting for the notification to finish. So they just sat there doing nothing.

Don't know if this is tied into the hiccups we've been having, but I (very briefly) got thus when I tried to visit the first Awesome/Funny Quotes thread on page 15...

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists."

The page worked when I refreshed, but just thought you'd like to know (especially since I'd never seen it before)

I've seen that before, but it was a few months ago. I think it's an issue with the forum being too busy or something. Might not be exactly that, but it's something that resolves itself if you wait.

Yes, if it's at 3:15am PST, it's caused by a major backup that runs every couple of weeks, which locks up the database for a few minutes.

Might be. I noticed it at about 10:20am GMT (my local time zone)
