How often do I need to bump?

This question is not how often am I allowed to bump; I don't just want my thread at the top of "Recent Topics." How often do I need to bump my thread so it won't die?

1) it depends on the forum. You generally shouldn't bump a thread until it has, at minimum, dropped to page 2. For faster moving forums like General, I wouldn't bump for a full 24 hours.
2) You really shouldn't bump, regardless. If your post isn't sufficiently interesting to generate replies, then too bad. Let it sink. Try again later on a different topic.

It's for The Senate RP where people may not post but it needs to be there as part of the RP.

I don't see as that makes any difference to the advice in the previous post. "24 hours or never" still works. If you've gone another 24 hours without a legitimate reply after the first bump, then it's obviously time for the thread to die.
