Query about the use of email on the WA and a suggestion

Postby Khorata » Sun Mar 14, 2010 2:21 pm

Why do we need to use an email just to join the World Assembly? I however have an idea to solve the problem. You would need to fill out your full nation name, the population, type of government, motto and currency. It would need to be unique to do this, and I know you can identify a IP address, so with that, maybe it can "abolish," the email requirement. As I previously said, Why do we need to use an email if we could get a telegram that lets you know if you are approved or disapproved, and if you are approved, you click the link saying, "You can enter the World Assembly by clicking here," with the WA Rules and if you agree, you are in?

Why do you seem to consider providing an e-mail address to be such an arduous task?

It's just an email address. The way you're putting it you'd think it's a damn Social Security number.
Either way, not only does your suggestion seem much more complicated on... everyone's part, but there's so much room for error. You do know that the WA telegrams are automated, right?

Think of it. Some people do not have email addresses, and think of it this way. More people can join the World Assembly and NationStates! :D

In bold, here it is to you.

To us, some wish to join the WA but cannot. So we need a solution to that problem, and when it is done. There can be senders that will send that to new WA members (volunteers called Senders), as well as resolutions.

And why, exactly, can you not make an email account?

Some aren't allowed (like me) or chose not to.

If you're thirteen or older, you should be allowed too.

It's just another way for the admin to watch for WA multis.

You can get a hotmail online and use it for NS, that's what I did when I first joined. I only logged into it once. And it takes a few minutes at the max to make...

And the best part is your parents won't know you have a hotmail (unless you stay logged in as it).

I'd assume Gmail and such are just as easy to get.

Legally, not parent-wise. My parents are still afraid of the internet. *shrugs*

Hardly. As already noted, even the most embarrassing members of the species can figure out how to get a new e-mail address. It's a much more significant barrier to automation, which the suggested replacements would be useless for.

Anyway, there is also the feature that you can recover a lost password with an E-mail address, you cant without one!
When is a nation not a nation? When it's a region!
