Not Permitted - Please Lift Restriction

Postby Panjaten » Tue Mar 28, 2017 10:07 am

Hi, I'm a ninth grade teacher using Nationstates as a teaching tool, and my students are all creating nations. Unfortunately, we are no longer allowed to do so; we're all getting the "you are not permitted" message. Would it be possible to lift this ban? We're on chromebooks, so we're all connecting from the same network.

Not a techie, so take my answer with a grain of salt- but there is a ratelimit that restricts how rapidly one user (or, I suspect in this case, 30-someodd users who appear to be one user to our system) can create nations. There's no actual limit to how many nations any single user can have, just a limit on how quickly they can be created. It's possible your class just triggered that throttle and it should clear up on its own in a few minutes or so.

EDIT TO ADD: I just looked at the mod-accessible logs, and it does appear that your IP has hit one of the throttles. Did one of your students forget their password and repeatedly try to login to their nation? If there's too many bad login attempts, the offending IP address does get locked out for about 45 minutes.

That's what I figured; eventually we staggered sign-ups. The kids got a bit frustrated waiting, but most classes eventually made their nations. Thanks for the help!
