This would solve the following problems:
- Update Period: Players from all timezones would be able to participate in R/D Gameplay conveniently, albeit with a smaller range of regions to invade at their most convenient times. This would vastly increase the accessibility of R/D as it would put all timezones at an equal footing, thus increasing audiences from timezones whose players may like R/D but are deterred from it due to the Update period.
- Update Length: The length of the update wouldn't matter anymore, as it would go around the clock. Sure, there will always be those regions that wouldn't be convenient for reach timezone, but in making the update 24/7, every timezone would have the same costs and benefits - there are always hundreds of regions to R/D on.
- Level Playing Field: Because the update time for every region would be lengthened vastly, defenders would be more able to anticipate the region that a group of invaders/raiders would most likely to strike and be able to attack more easily, which would probably even out the playing field for a 50/50 possibility of victory for both sides.
- Conveniency: Simply put, R/D could happen all day and it would be the closest possible thing to a war feature, as one could R/D their choice of regions that are updating while they're on the site any time they want.
Problems:
- Mild Inconveniency: Most obviously, some regions would update at the most inconvenient times, such as very early morning. However, the range of regions updating during those inconvenient times is most likely to be very low, and additionally, there are a vast number of regions that could be attacked at other more convenient times for that player.
- Coding: This could take some time to code.
- Start of 24/7 Update: If this was started, the Update would start at 12:00 AM EST and end on the same day, 11:59 PM EST, starting over again the next day. This may be a problem, as changing directly from a short update period to a 24/7 Continuous Update may be problematic.
