Ranking inside Regions

Postby Alpinistan » Wed Mar 03, 2010 8:36 am

As it is now there is one ranking for each day, which goes into regions and the whole world. i dont know if thats because of some backend traffic or whatever, but it would be nice to be at least able to select rankings inside a region to compare with your friends on the different values not only on the specific day this ranking is avaible :>

You can only view one ranking per day because we only run one ranking per day, and we don't save the old ranking data.

If it really matters to you, you can save the rankings for your region yourself (in a textfile or something), so they can be viewed at a later time. I used to do that for my region of Swilantis.

The last one I did was "Largest Defense Forces in Swilantis", in September 2009. It looked like this.

Longfort
Sarleneska
Frinistia
Swilatia
Wasted Wizards
Wasted Nations
Qi Land
East Longfort
Wijaska Island
Sophia City

Seven Castles
Khenas
Valeneska
Wavispa
Sun Field
Yurozea

Some of these nations may have since left the region or ceased to exist, but I'm surprised I didn't get last.

i already figured that out, but inside a region it should not be so hard to calculate other rankings on demand, as not every region will do that anyway or soemthing :>

maybe a mn/max size to avoid traffic of 1000 man regions.. like 4-25 or something, but this is a suggestion, and just because it isnt there yet doesnt mean it cant be there :p i programm on a webgame, i know that such things are far from impossible ;)

It's not specifically done per region - all the nations in the game are ranked, then the region ranking is worked out from that.

And regarding the coding - Pythag and [violet]'s usual response to saying something like 'i know that such things are far from impossible' is 'show us the code'.
This isn't because they're lazy, more that they're already doing a group of other things (eg overhauling the TG system and re-releasing old names) that are taking up their time. If you can put forward a simple solution that doesn't conflict with other parts of the game code, then they're a lot more likely to put it into place, sooner.
I know what gay science is.

Also, the code for the game is like some freakish Frankenstein's monster.
Now the stars they are all angled wrong,
And the sun and the moon refuse to burn.
But I remember a message,
In a demon's hand:
"Dread the passage of Jesus, for he does not return."

-Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, "Time Jesum Transeuntum Et Non Riverentum"
