Delayed WA email

Postby Kaboomlandia » Fri Sep 02, 2016 4:32 am

Last night I applied for the WA on a puppet to do a military operation. But the email didn't send. I applied twice, then gave up at 10:24 PM MDT. At 3:20 AM MDT, the email finally went through. What happened?

Firstly, what email provider do you use? One is dodgy and you should switch (hot mail I think), and one is messed up for a week or so.

I'am also having troubles receiving the email and I'm using Gmail. I can assure you that this is my only nation registered with this email.

I'm too confused to calculate timezone times right now. Did this happen during update? Because the sending of WA emails can be severely delayed during update (I noticed that during the NLO Coup of Lazarus when a lot of people were applying for WA membership on top of update server load).

If you're using Gmail please do the following:
    - go to Settings from your nation's page
    - change your email address from 'example@gmail.com' to 'example+ns@gmail.com'
    - you'll receive the confirmation email in your inbox

You can add any string after '+' and you'll still receive emails in your 'main' inbox. More info here

I applied for an email during major update (approximately 11:05 P.M. CDT) and got the email at 5:22 A.M.

EDIT: I've also applied again with a different puppet, and it hasn't come yet. This has happened before, but I'm not sure what causes or fixes it.

It doesn't seem to fix the problem. I haven't gotten the confirmation email and I did this a few minutes ago.

In addition to the above suggestions, keep in mind that NS has been having some issues with Spam Filters after someone decided that they'd just Spam-Report all the Emails NS was sending them, rather than have NS stop sending them.

Yeah these folks know those things ;)

I'm confident that at least the entire team of raiders under me (which includes a few of the posters here) are using a comparable email provider, have checked their spam folder, and as an aside depending on what spam issue yore talking about, the topics emails are disabled as a result of one and the other was fixed for the most part (the one with the bot clicking links). This is an actual issue seen across several different experienced players.

Even though I already solved my problem, I have to inform you that I received not 1 but 3 emails to confirm my nation as a WA member. Maybe the system was overloaded, maybe there was a baby-boom. IDK :?:

You should probably refresh you client if it's sort of delaying. Refreshing your page is what you should usually do to check on your internet connection, so on.

Did that. Several times. I waited out the time it told me to, then applied again. That one didn't get through in any timely fashion either.

Have you rebooted your router? That solves most troubleshooting issues, if not all.
Or, try to restart your computer.

If you have no idea what you're talking about, better not to give advice. None of that would fix an issue with just a specific email from a specific sender not arriving and all other messages and Internet functions working.

I can't tell without the name of the puppet.

It's very rare to have an issue with GMail. Delays or blocks do happen with Hotmail and Yahoo sometimes.

I'll confirm that I had a lot of Apocalypse emails delayed on Friday. (i.e. I woke up to have a half-dozen or so in my email and I logged in to each of my puppets.) Over the next 12 hours, I continued to receive the apocalypse emails about puppets I had logged into already. Later received emails include those sent to Testing Mouse, Squirt the Sea Turtle, Mods Posting Ponies, Mousebehavior, Mouse the Martian, Little Sharklets of Mallorea, Ministrix, and Ninja Mouse - among others. I can include the names of the puppets that had emails received earlier as well, if that would help.

I think there was some sort of delay going on at Gmail last week, though I don't know the reason or cause.
