Endorsement statistics/records

Postby Lord Ravenclaw » Tue Jul 19, 2016 1:10 pm

I've recently been pondering the record for WA Endorsements in NS, and despite seeing a lot of people recalling past endorsement counts of major regions, there isn't, as far as I can tell, a central location from it.

Is it possible that NS could provide a page where we can see the most endorsements by nation over a set period, updated every update with it limited to display the top hundred by default?

Essentially, I am seeking some information on historic endorsement levels and records.

I've just broken a thousand endorsements in game, and from what I recall from a thread on the old forum used by TNP, the last time they had this many endorsements on its delegate was back in 2003. Obviously, there's no way for me to check that. I'm also aware that 10,000 Islands had a Delegate with a thousand or more endorsements more recently and I'm interested seeing how common this occurrence is, and where it has happened prior.

I think Loop had about 1000 in 2004. He still pops up occasionally, you could ask in TEP.

Meanwhile, I think it would be a fascinating set of stats to look at. Ideally, I'd like to be able to view by world max, by region, by date and by nation. Obviously the game can't tell you what it doesn't know, but if the data is there it would be of interest to me, too.

I wish for this as well, it'd be a nice feature.

I do keep records on this, but only from March 2016 (unfortunately).

Anime Daisuki reached an endorsement count of 1025 endorsments on February 27th, 2013 (our records say 2012, but that wouldn't line up with his Delegate term, so I'm assuming a typo of some sort). This is, to my knowledge, the highest endorsement count a Delegate of 10000 Islands has ever had. I'm fairly sure it's also a UCR record, though I can't prove it.

We had ~3,000 nations back then.

I looked into it back when Anime Daisuki and I had high endorsement counts in 10ki. Next to us, the highest endorsement counts I found (from my own recollection, talking to various oldtimers and digging through old forums) were Nastic's 883 endorsements and Cathyy, who I think hit somewhere between 700 and 800 endorsements at one point.

I can confirm those two counts as well - Nastic's 883/884 record was from 2003/4 (broken by me in April I think), and Cathyy's was about 740 from a similar period (broken by SillyString in January). Thread on the old invisionfree board about the delegacy.

It's a pity there's no concrete records from the Feeders.

The number of endorsements delegates had can be found in the Region XML dump, which is kept since 2011: https://www.nationstates.net/page=archive
It'll take someone quite some downloading / data processing to create the overview you want.

And then, there's still
Texas' NSDossier: http://nsdossier.texasregion.net/ They have data from a longer period, but less frequent and the form may not provide what you want to know in the most convenient way (or at all, ask them).

I don't recall NSDossier having endorsement records, but simply population records.

NSDossier had WA vote records, certainly, which thus included endorsement records. I haven't been able to find them recently, though.
