Thanks in advance for your help regarding telegrams received

Postby Magic Sands » Tue Feb 23, 2010 3:30 pm

Hi, everyone. I am interested in learning more about received-telegrams...

(1)
Is there an absolute limit to the number of received-telegrams that I may keep: saved plus unsaved?

(2)
Is there an absolute limit to the number of received-telegrams that I may keep: saved only? Do such telegrams ever "die"?

(3)

(4)
More generally, what are all the advantages of saving a telegram? Any aspects I haven't addressed in my questions above?

Thanks very much for helping, if possible.

1) Yes, you may only have a total of 20 telegrams that one may have at one time.

2) You may save, up to my knowledge, 20 telegrams, may be saved at once, they never die, and any telegrams some body is trying to send you at that time are not received by you.

3) 20 telegrams, if you have no other saved telegrams, and then, once a new telegram comes in, the oldest telegram is deleted, unless it is saved.

4) Saved telegrams, never get deleted, and thus you can have and read forever, unlike regular telegrams.

Excellent; I believe you covered it all.

I'm very grateful, "Solm", for your assistance.

Follow-up question:
I know that (previously) WA Delegates had the ability to store more telegrams in their Inbox. (15 versus 10, back in the day, if memory serves) Is this still true, while obviously using different number limits? Or is the limit of 20 the case for all NS nations?

Never being a WA Delegate before, I think it is still 20 for all nations.

Uh, I'm not sure he would appreciate you telling random people to TG him. I don't know him very well, but I sure wouldn't.

My inbox has 20, anyhow.

I wish I remember who wrote:Games like Nationstates are like a big cardboard box, and there are two kinds of people in the world. The kind who look at the empty void inside the box and ask "Where the hell is it?" and the kind who jump into the box with their friends and make it into a fort, or a spaceship.

Many thanks! 20 is a lot - so that would make sense. I just thought I'd double check so I can be sure to clear enough space, in those instances where I login to find my Inbox quite full.

Neither do unsaved telegrams. If your telegrams don't get bumped, they'll just stay there. I have one that's 2529 days old.

And the sun and the moon refuse to burn.
But I remember a message,
In a demon's hand:
"Dread the passage of Jesus, for he does not return."

Good memory: in ye olden days, the limit was 10 for regular nations and 15 for delegates. It's now 20 for all nations.

Yeah, I guess I just proved how old I am/my nation is (although the "antiquity" is probably a good hint at that too) - I know I was excited to have and extra 5 telegrams back in the day ... but somehow I never noticed when the limit was increased again.

Thanks again for the clarification! :)
