It requires admin powers that I don't have. We'll have to wait for an admin to come by.

Budgie, budgerigar and parakeet all refer to a species of parrot and are not recognized by the game as such.

Animals Behavior

Postby Sauricaus » Sun Sep 23, 2018 9:18 am

I have a problem with my nation animal. In the overview there is this sentence: " Sauricaus's national animal is the cassowary, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies." The problem is that the cassowary can't fly. I hope that this problem can be resolved.

So the admin do not have to hunt, their national animal is the “Hen Harrier”, which is a bird and should be relocated to the sky.

I am not sure generally making “Harrier” considered a sky animal is a good idea however, as Harrier is also a breed of dog.

Classify Wobbegongs as Aquatic Animals

Postby Swarshengaggen » Mon Dec 10, 2018 8:57 pm

Currently, my national description says this about Wobbegongs, an Australian shark species:
Swarshengaggen's national animal is the Wobbegong, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Meritism.

Could the Wobbegong be classified as an aquatic animal instead of a land-roaming one?

Much has changed in Merconitonitopia since I made this post at this time exactly one year ago. Alas, my barnacles remain within the forests.

Overlooked National animal.

Postby Alchbyre » Fri Dec 28, 2018 5:01 pm

So I decided to base my National Animal on the National animal of Norway, the White-throated dipper, a bird. However nationstates classified the dipper as a land-based animal. Which it is not, the dipper, and all other animals know as dippers are small birds found across America, Europe and Asia. I realize that this is very trivial but I believe the national animals of real-life nations should be accounted for.

(EDIT: Sorry for posting this in it's own thread and thanks for moving it)

I've recently seen a nation whose cetaceans are foraging through garbage in the cities...
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

As was said in your other thread, NationStates is in English - we're not going to code animal locations for other languages.

Crows also seem to register as land-based animals, which surprised me since they're a well-known and prevalent bird species.

I think my animal, the oriole, might be listed as a land animal instead of air? I'm not clear on if there is such a distinction or not in the game. Apologies for confusion if so

Are eagles recognized as flying animals - and if they aren’t, could they be classified as such, please?

My national animal is the kinderer duck, and as far as I know, ducks don't tend to fly, but prefer water.
