How does Employment work?

Postby Syiuo » Mon Feb 29, 2016 2:28 pm

I have a pretty far above average economy, a thing i have a bit of pride upon my nation for. but apparently not many people are employed? Is this because of a small population? Or is no one getting a job? is it amount of people V.S. people employed, or is it just amount employed in a country? Im just wondering how this works. If one could explain it would be greatly appreciated, thank you for you're time

Have a look at this, for starters:

If your economy is so good even without people doing any work, why do you need people to work more?

(Though... your current economy is not really that good. 81 Economy and 71385.04 Average Income is pretty unimpressive.)

What I'm never sure about is "average income" itself. This nation had a 100% tax rate until it lapsed in 2011 (presumably sometime between then and now it got refactored... to like 96% lmao) and has an economy rating of 97-98, and its average income is between twice and four times that of all my nations with econ ratings of 99-100 and much lower tax rates. Possibly it's a narrow rich-poor divide (due to welfare or w/e) combined with lots of industry subsidies to boost production, but I've got no clue, since most of the economy seems to be tied up in an insanely huge black market. But anyways

Your workforce participation is 64.4% compared to the world average of 66.7%, so it's not actually far off.

Most of the ways to boost employment to abnormally high levels are unpleasant for your citizens, because people don't choose to work for fun, especially in capitalist nations. Reducing welfare, lowering taxes, and freeing your markets will boost workforce participation, but you may not want to do that.

Does slavery count as employment?

At least don't forget to legalize child labor. That's an entire segment of your population suffering from awful, awful joblessness!
