Stately 1.5.4 is now out on both Google Play and the Amazon Appstore, which brings in some bug fixes and improvements.

I also want to point out that Stately has been downloaded more than 1,000 times since it was released late January 2016. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the app! :)

I've been using it for months now, and can easily say it's the best NationStates app ever.

Stately 1.5.5 is now out on both Google Play and the Amazon Appstore! In addition to the usual bug fixes and improvements, this version brings in the following updates:
  • Stately now confirms if you want to exit the app when the back button is pressed in the main screen, to prevent accidental exits. This can be disabled in the settings.
  • In the Nation > Overview screen, the WA card has been merged with the main card.
  • The census ranking cards now say "Top" instead of "+" when in world/region top percent mode.
  • Animal trait data is now shown when available (e.g. "soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies").
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome! :)

On a related note, are there any features from NS++ that you'd like to see in Stately? Some things I've considered are custom regional titles for the Founder and WA Delegate, as well as regional news.

Wow, this looks awesome! I've been looking for a decent NS app for years and this looks really nice! I'll be trying it as soon as I get off from work.

Would it be possible to implement an RMB search post feature, by keywords or author, as NS++ has? Also, push notifications would be great (though Idk how that would work without putting more strain on the server...)

Just tried this app today and I'm very impressed at how beautiful and well-done it is! Thank you and congrats!

I don't think adding them would be a good idea, unless that information was automatically synced with the NS++ versions.

Thanks for trying it out, I'm glad you like it! Notifications are definitely planned for a future version, though I can't give a timeline on when that would come out. RMB searching seems like an interesting feature, I could look into it.

NS++ has a public-facing API that the app can use, so you'll be able to get the same information both on Stately and NS++.

Loving the app, I have mostly stopped using the website since Stately gives me pretty much everything I need for NationStates on my phone and tablet! :) One thing that has been vexxing me though: could you add some markers for new issues, RMB and telegrams?

Like a red box with the number of unread RMB messages in it next to the Region item in the menu - much like on the website (at least with NationStates++, don't know about vanilla). And the same for issues and telegrams.

I would also like push notifications about new issues and telegrams, with an option to disable them completely or suppress them for X hours/days (when on vacation for example).

Just my suggestions, thanks for the amazing app! :)

Having the unread count for issues/telegrams/RMB posts is a great idea. That'll definitely be included in the next version.

Push notifications are something I'm looking into adding in the future, but I can't give a timeline on when that would happen.

Reporting a bug: the character encoding when posting in a RMB is limited. Scandinavian characters are displayed correctly in posts made by others but when you post in the RMB with Stately using Scandinavian characters, they get corrupted in both your own post and any quotes that might have them. Mainly the characters å, ä, ö. Don't know if this applies to telegrams as well.

I guess Stately is not using UTF-8? :p

Thanks for the report! I'm aware of this issue, which I think affects all non-ASCII characters (found out while playing with emojis). It probably affects telegrams sent from the app as well. This should be fixed in the next version.

Musant wrote:I guess Stately is not using UTF-8? :p

It's actually the other way around, haha. :P Stately encodes its requests using UTF-8, but NS expects requests encoded using ISO-8859-1.

It does by default, but not if you send a Content-Type header with "charset=UTF-8".

Stately 1.6.0 is out on both Google Play and the Amazon Appstore! This is a major update that introduces the following changes:

  • Added link to open NS registration page on the login screen.
  • Added unread count for issues, telegrams, RMB posts and WA resolutions in the navigation drawer.
  • Improved telegram support - unread styling, organization tools and 'visit region' button for recruitment.
  • Merged Region > Community and Region > Governance tabs.
  • Increased number of RMB posts to load from 10 to 100.
  • Improved Unicode support for RMB posts and telegrams.
  • Added domain name in link text for external links in RMB posts and telegrams.
  • Added option to report RMB posts and telegrams.
  • Removed Activity Feed restrictions on number of nations/regions to query.
  • Swipe right from the left edge to dismiss new screens.
  • Removed enforced portrait mode on all screens.
  • Visual improvements across the app.
  • Bug fixes and other improvements.
This update uses a new API-based login process, which should hopefully fix the issues some people have had with that in the past. Please post here if you run into any issues with the new login process.

Some good news: Stately has been downloaded more than 3,800 times since its release earlier this year! Thank you so much to everyone for your continued support. Special thanks to [violet] and her team for their technical support as well.

As usual, feedback and suggestions are always welcome! :)

It looks really good, much more sleek and sophisticated than NS Mobile. Its nothing short of a consumerist tragedy that it can't be available to iOS users.

If I had the money, I'd willingly help with the costs of developing for iOS...but I don't. It's a real shame. This is so much better than the NS mobile site.

Maybe make it so we can access the forum inside the Stately app? Also having the conservative/liberal themes would be pretty cool. Maybe a dark theme too?(if added a dark theme for the conservative/liberal themes would be neat)

Edit: I can't change my banner? Am I blind or is the not yet in?
