If a nation spends nothing on Public Transport, it's 0%. Lots of nations don't want to spend anything in a particular area.

Do issues bump funding only by whole percentages, is what they're asking I think.

It's the first of those five lines that I find the hardest to believe: Not any 'Administration' outside of the various separate departments that do have budgets?!? In that case, who allocates & distributes the funding to those departments?

Each department is autonomous and manages its own budget and fund raising. I mean, what kind of anarchy spends money on administration?

What kind of government at all spends money on administration when all the other departments administrate themselves?

I am opposed with Micromanaging from the WA but not ourselves. We should have the option.

eres how i see it: it would be a lot of work to progrma all this and if we have to do it for you well have to do it for everybody witch will make this game very advanced and complecated so unless everybody is suggesting we create a whole thing with budgets and real wars and stuff, for all the work it was we would have to pay to play.

The various departments and programs of my government that aren't provided for in the national budget fund themselves through various criminal rackets and activities as well as diverting funds from non-income tax sources, such as corporate taxes and gambling profits.

No not exactly. Yes I want it for everyone but just that. We already have wars through Role Play however we don't have budget details.

If role play is sufficient for wars, it's sufficient for your budget.

I agree that budget micromanagement is a bad thing, and that the current system is far more rewarding. The one type of micromanagement that would be an improvement would be the ability to show/change the names of more things in your nation; I mean we can change the national animal through the settings screen, and capital city etc through the various issues, but I think it would be good to have a few more things to change. :)

James Bluntus: What you are proposing would, in effect, remove the game from NationStates. The game itself is about answering issues and seeing what the effects are on your nation. By allowing people to set their own budgets, that takes away a massive part of the basic game of NS.

Yes, many of us pay scant attention to the Issues. But that's no excuse to ignore the statistical effect of them.

I must admit I do not see how it must be "all or nothing".

Why would allowing a Nation to set, for example, the % they would like to see their budget follow and then still allow the issues to mess with how the reality plays out be somehow bad? How would this "take the game out of Nation States?

I also get the Admin has said it will not change, but that does not mean it is because a change would somehow ruin NS.
