XML question

Postby Topid » Mon Feb 01, 2010 1:27 am

I've been playing with scripts all day and learning how to use them.

http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/reg ... on=lazarus

<NATIONS>---MANY---</NATIONS>

I know this happens when a region is too big. Is there any way to get that information? From the XML or any other source... I looked everywhere I could think of, couldn't find a way... But I wanted to ask just in case.

Anyone know?

Was this the "official" announcement that the NS XML Feeds are now listing all nations for all regions regardless of size?

It used to say "<NATIONS>---MANY---</NATIONS>" for regions with more than 300 nations. The surprise new data messed up NSDossier for, well, since whenever it actually happened.

It is all better now. And faster than ever.

Even 10000 Islands can now see their stats in under a minute:

Query List: 10000 Islands
Query Date: Saturday, February 13, 2010
Query Time: 9:42:27 PM
Query Duration: 58.62 seconds

Records Returned: 784
Live Count: 784
Dead Count: 0
Dying Count: 45

Total Population: 1,026,533,000,000
Average Population: 1,309,000,000

WA Members: 302
WA Percentage: 39%
Delegate Endorsement Percentage: 74.09%

And even The Pacific nations can see where they rank on things like population size within the region, GDP, etc within 3 or 4 minutes too. For example:

Query List: the pacific
Query Date: Saturday, February 13, 2010
Query Time: 6:52:58 PM
Query Duration: 3 minutes 11.359 seconds

Records Returned: 2268
Live Count: 2268
Dead Count: 0
Dying Count: 245

Total Population: 1,384,444,000,000
Average Population: 610,000,000

WA Members: 172
WA Percentage: 8%
Delegate Endorsement Percentage: 42.69%

We haven't had the cajones to try Lazarus yet....
