A humble suggestion (telegrams)

Postby Kandarin » Sat Jan 30, 2010 6:08 pm

I know that the telegram overhaul will resolve a lot of ongoing telegramming issues, but it's a long time coming. In the meantime, could you cut the spam lag time? I know it's there to keep bots at bay, but fifteen seconds won't stop them any more than, say, ten, and all of us who need to telegram lots of people for various reasons will thank you.

Eh, Use the fifteen second wait-time to personalize the telegram, it increases the efficency of the telegram anyway.

Okay, you now get a discount of 1 second off the delay for every 100 days your nation has been alive, to a minimum of 5 seconds.

Really? That struck me as sarcastic for some reason...

Better than nothing I suppose. Though it sucks this happened a week AFTER I started with a new nation. :(

I do that; it's still a crapshoot whether you get a wall of red text or not.

She was serious. She just forgot to, you know, actually change the 15. Should be fixed now.

Hm. Interesting. So, at 584 days, I would have to wait only 10 seconds.

By "to a minimum of 5 seconds", does [violet] mean that, no matter what, you have to wait at least 5 seconds?

I'll be holding services at this shrine daily. ;)

On behalf of everyone who ever endoswapped, sent out regional bulletins, recruited, campaigned for a proposal, sent out telegrams for their Delegate, sent out telegrams against their Delegate, or lobbied for/against a resolution: Thank you!

Eh, nothing that isn't happening now. Unless you're saying that the latest crop of players are more immature than the current ones were when they were new - which is a claim that would require some serious evidence. The update did apply retroactively to all existing older nations, e.g. I now have a 5-second timer.

May I give a feedback that this is a sensible compromise. I have observed that spam-bots do tend to send out messages as fast as possible regardless of the age of the bot, so, Well done.

Too bad there is no way to figure in warnings. Like if warned for spam timer + 30 sec. :-)
