Idea: Featured Nation of the day

Postby Kingsley Bedford » Sun Jan 17, 2010 11:08 pm

You know how we have the "Featured region of the day"... well, I was thinking it'd be a good idea to have a featured nation of the day as well. It'd be good for the reputation of a nation, and just fun in general to look at the different nations each day.

Does anyone else like this idea?

It's been brought up before; the major concern of most people was spam.

If you want to look at different nations and regions, just click one and follow the endless chain of links. More fun than it sounds.

Spam, more like it.
and there's 50,000ish nations out there. The code would be immense and fail-prone.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. The code would be no more difficult (or any different, really) than the code for featured regions. It's just not a good idea.

Hehehee... its not an well-liked opinion to point out, but NS2 offered a Featured Nation -- probably because they didn't have regions.

I'll add this to the Big List, if it hasn't been already.

I'd personally hate to be Featured, my inbox is almost full half the time already. All it would do is get some poor soul spammed.

Agreed about the spam. Featured regions benefit from the potential arrival of new recruits who see their details and think that they look nice, but featured nations would gain no such advantage to counterbalance the spamming.
If you really want to be "featured" then try to get into the top 10 nations -- or into the bottom 10 nations, instead, if you prefer -- for one or more of the traits that can feature in the daily tables of rankings...
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.
