If you downloaded it from the dropbox, it is a zip file. You're going to need to extract it and then use the jar file afterwards.

Once that's done, open the folder. Then simply click the jar file once and then right click it. Hover over "open with" and click "Java(TM) Platform SE binary". The program then should open, click "Open Simulator". You then should be able to freely use NationStates Battle Simulator once you've done all that.

If that doesn't work, feel free to telegram me personally or to post once more in this topic regarding it so I can fix it.

Hmm. I just thought that a "level of exhaustion" should be added. I mean, you might have a huge force of 100.000 men about to fight 1.000 men, but what if you just force-marched your men 200 miles with little stops? Going along the same lines (sort of), what about area familiarity? Surely the 1.000 well-rested locals will have a better chance than the exhausted and disoriented 100.000 men?

Just my 2ยข.

I've been busy in the recent month due to school and work. However, the majority of the site design itself is finished and only the simulator needs to be built. Once it's able to be used, it'll go into a closed testing environment in which only certain people of the region of Audaxia will be able to access the site. It'll stay in that phase for awhile as new features will most surely be added into it and are tested.

Once the simulator almost equals, does equal, or even has more features of the original NSBS project, it'll enter an open beta. This will take time and I expect somewhere in September 2016 it'll be made public for open beta. However, I am very sure there will be a demo released to show the new project off. For the final release date, I am expecting sometime in October 2016. There's a lot of stuff to be done during these months and with only one person, it'll take some time.

So...

Seeing that several months have passed since the expectation period, may I ask the current status of NSBS: Online?

Just putting this out here, this is Sad-States.

NSBS: Online is no longer being worked on currently due to a lack of time and other priorities that I feel that are more important. While I am not ruling out NSBS: Online for good, I would like to state that it will not be released in 2017. Sorry for any inconveniences this may bring.

That's okay, RL takes priority.

As long as it's not completely out of the picture. Good luck.

I tried to open it with Java but it didn't and it said that it had trouble installing Java even though Java is already installed. It also said to check the commands to see if its valid. What do I do?

I'm new to this old thread.

I was using this program a while ago and it worked, however I'm having issues and I've been busy running mathematical equations to turn a nation's stats into numbers that conform to the parameters of the combat simulation.

If someone who is capable of working on this program can fix bugs in it, that'd be awesome. :3

Hello everyone, it's Sad-States here.

I wanted to firstly verfity that Hoydia is in fact Articalla, the original developer of NSBS.

As you can see, Articalla is back and that means NationStates Battle Simulator will begin receiving updates again! I wanted to say that I am sorry that I have been inactive during the past few months and have been treating this program the same as some coders been treating other NS related stuff, - coughs NS++ - :meh:

Expect some cool updates in the future and thank Hoydia for coming back!

Will Hoydia also be working on the site as well?

Hoydia possibly may start working on the site after he gets his major updates released of this version of NSBS. It's up to him, honestly.

For now, it's just me working on the site. I'm more of a web developer so I should be good. Life was rough the past few years and that's why I delayed the release until I felt I was able to put a really good amount of time into it. Although at this moment I do not have a lot of time to work on NSBS: Online due to managing my region of Audax, work, and traveling because of work--I am still working on the site.

I had a question. What does "Sad-States Mode" mean?

It's a secret mode available only to the creator. You must present an authorized fingerprint, retinal scan, cheek scraping, and toenail clipping to gain access.

What program would anyone suggest I use to open run this on?

In context, I downloaded the source, but for me it's just an Internet Explorer link that seems to have me just download itself repeatedly.

Have you read the "How do I run it?" question in the FAQ? Go back to the OP and look.
