Founder Clearing Spam

Postby Klaus Devestatorie » Sun Jan 17, 2010 7:47 pm

Founder clearing spam is only performable if you spam out the RMB or the regional happenings yourself. It also deletes all the stuff that we -don't- want to see deleted, such as insightful posts.

Hence I propose for the Founder to have the ability to delete posts from the RMB, and also remove items from the news listing. Whether or not the posts that have previously been knocked off will be returned when newer posts have been deleted, or if the offending news items will still be visible through the dossier is another question (they could always just be "blocked"- not being visible from the regional happenings but visible from the nation that made the happening happen).

This would allow the founder to have discretion over removing the spam on the RMB, therefore removing some level of work from the moderators. Whether or not we want the WA delegate to be able to do it or not in founderless regions (maybe just feeders and warzones?) either allowing everyone to see all the juicy raider/defender stuff up or have it removed and potentially having actual griefers one more thing to go bezerk with (or maybe even require influence to censor the nation that posted based on how much influence they have in the region, which in turn could allow founders and WA delegates the power to completely censor nations from the RMB for a fraction of the price that it would take to eject and/or ban them).

DISCUSS!

Would you be able to see that the founder deleted items from the RMB/regional happenings?

Yes to the happenings (because they would probably just be blocked or something), probably not to the delete posts as that would require some way of indicating that.

First of all, there had better not be any way for a Delegate to delete RMB messages. Just... :palm: The opportunities for abuse are tremendous.

I suppose allowing Founders to do so is reasonable, though it still bothers me. I don't know how easy it would be to copy the feature over from the Mod controls.

I like the idea. WAD's shouldn't be able to clear RMB's though. Censors for Influence Cost would be cool. It would bring out the tyrant side of people.

The delegate could only do that if A: they had the influence, and B: Delegate controls were switched on. And clearing spam should be a founder only thing.

I could see this being used in so many underhanded fashions when it comes to politics, though.

Though I can agree it would be a useful feature, I'm not sure whether I support it or not, simply because of the way it could be abused.

But the politics is good, it adds a further dimension to the game.

Founders can already clear the RMB by posting 10 spam messages. (It is only legal for a founder to do it.) So they already have the power to censor the region. This would just let them censor one post rather than deleting the other 9 valid posts.

I don't really think it would be used a great deal, the phrase 'founder clearing spam' is rarely used... But if this was added it would be nice to see 'Topid removed NationX's post on the RMB' in region happenings, or to leave the nations name on the RMB and just leave the message box blank, that way people know the founder used the power.
