Gender option for the Leader

Postby Alpinistan » Sat Jan 16, 2010 3:24 am

i think it would be nice if one could choose if the leader (aka the player) is either male or female. and thus making the issues also a little more varieting.
for example you could use Mr. or Mrs. in the issue.

the flag could be something like @@GENDER=male|female@@ so for example @@GENDER=Mr.|Mrs.@@ would mean if you use it in an issue would use the more apporpiate.
also miner details like "father knows best state" could be a "mother knoes best state" ^^

its because i say now one or antoher issue that uses "lord and master" or "mr. leader" in the description, even i am a matriarchy ;p

and it could make a neat statistic on the leaders gender ratio (at least "in character" i guess, we are in the internets after all) :>

I support this suggestion and think it's a good idea indeed. :)

We already have an issue that lets you choose your leader's name. What more could you want?

We write issues to be gender-neutral by default (or at least try to), because we like to use the random-name macro.

You can mimic your suggestion by placing your prefix or suffix in the "leader name" box.

Usually, but I HAVE seen issues that mentioned a brother named Buffy Winters (or something similar). :)

From what I recall, most of the ones that specify brother/sister etc are the original set. And in any case, it can just make it rather amusing to read. Creative parents and all that.

The problem with that is, I know of at least one nation with a transgendered ruler and there are likely hermaphroditic species among the nonhuman-populated nations. How do we avoid offending anyone? Because that nation with a TG ruler is really easy to piss off.
Yes, all musical references are intentional.

The Rhythm Nation was founded in 1369 and is still around as late as 5000 AD, so I can RP in any tech setting you want. But magic does exist and can be used, and this is non-negotiable.

if he/she want to be refered in an particular manner, then he just choose that option? so if a transsexual man want to be refered as woman, (s)he just take the female option?
i dont really see a problem here, i see the gender neutrality as more offense :p
