There's lots of sterile possibles.

I was thinking just along the lines of the banners and other background images (some of which look like portions of banners, methinks ). I think they could find sufficient images without much difficulty Do you know anywhere that there's a list of all the possible categories?

Actually... There is no minimum age Gameside...

The minimum age of 13 is only for forumside... And bear in mind that NS is used in schools, often private schools, and those can be very conservative, so care should be taken when picking images...

I'd strongly suggest clip-arty/cartoonish images which are fairly vague, but give a general idea...

*review TOS* ...well you're right, I'm wrong Anyways, the point stands that banners and the other backgrounds already use photorealisitic, but sterile images, and the issues by nature require a certain level of maturity. I see no reason why these couldn't be at a similar level. Also, stock photos by nature cannot really be too bad

I'm sure some stock photos could be used. There are plenty of things that are associated with the causes of death that, in and of themselves, aren't overly graphic. The only ones I'm having trouble thinking of images for are the suicide ones (regular and in police custody), since they'd have to convey the point that those people intentionally did something to themselves.

I just wish I could customize the causes to properly fit my robotic, FT nation. It would read something like this, in rough order of most common to least:

Blasted by energy blasters
Shot down while raiding
Poisoned [with substances deadly to engines]
Thrown into active smelting pit
Other misadventures
Tricked into installing data-destroying malware
Killed by angry mob after exposure of scam
Executed by syndicate
Worked to death after being tricked into installing enslavement virus
Executed by government
Miscoded self-made patch
Loss of duel to the death
Lack of Energon
Lack of maintenance
Suicide

I'd be quite happy to be able to do that, even with no pictures.

Suicide could be a note saying: "Goodbye cruel world"
Suicide in police custody could be a note saying: "You'll never catch me alive!"

Also, the reason those are not customisable fields is because people love to abuse them and start writing graphic stuff... And customising them confuses everything...

It will probably happen, but the way Shutterstock works, it's a lot more cost-efficient to get a bunch of images all at once. So we will probably roll out Rift, get some new ideas for banners, and acquire them all together.
