Hmm, how about this: Links to onsite stuff (threads, nations, regions, WA pages, etc.) are one colour, offsite links are another? Is that hard to do, [v]? Would that be handy and logical, players?

I imagine it would be.

I suggest using some shade of orange for offsite links. Stands out just as well as green in both regular and dark themes, while being a distinct color from green.

Mmm, and perhaps it could turn some shade of red once clicked (like green goes blue)

If it's possible, I wouldn't be opposed to it. It'd be at least some pattern to the madness :P

Orange seems like me to have the potential to be garish, though a burnt orange might be nice.

(Burnt orange itself is a little dark. that's #EB5E00 Maybe I'll shop that later...)

Still, I feel as though the existing Green is nicer :P

...Orange for Offsite, Green to stay wouldn't be bad, on reflection. They go alright, both stand out, and don't look chirstmasy/stoplighty like green and red do.

IIRC, [nation] and [url=] tags work differently. Perhaps [nation] tags' link functions could be made the default interliink (with modifications) and currently url's the out-link?

Preferably one that doesn't violate the colour scheme of this site too much.

I'd suggest sticking with the current green and using This, which is the same colour as the Image button.

I think it might look better with slightly less red and slightly more blue, but in general it looks a decent colour, even on dark theme.

I think a cool thing to do with rift would be to have a setting where you can create your own color/colour palette. Think about it: color coding, custom themes, all the wow!

Well, I find simplicity to be more elegant, so it's my personal taste that's a big factor in this. Sticking to a colour scheme and using existing colours more seems more streamlined to me.

I don't think it's that easy. You'd probably be better off using a plugin that does it for you.

Getting ideas is usually the easiest part. Getting those ideas into code is a whole different story.

I understand that. I got into some basic JavaScript a while back. I had the idea of using my knowlage to create a game.

After 3 hours of programming the first monster, I flipped the table.

It fills the upper left of the page with these big icons, and huge buttons that take up excessive amounts of space.
And I really don't like the way my nation's flag is shown at the top left above the ad - it interrupts the Nationstates banner.

The nice orderly list of useful links of the default is preferable.

Really? The flag at the top of the ad is pretty in my opinion. It's cropped to take less space, and I love how they put the name above it.

Except the default takes up less space. Rift uses both more vertical and more horizontal space.
And I didn't make a flag only for it to be obscured by unwelcome text. And it's superfluous - I don't need to see my flag up there on a page that already has my nation name and flag on it, in full, unobscured.

Oh, gameside. I probably don't spend enough time there to take too much notice of how it is over there, TBH. :P

The forum version is essentially the same, except it takes up more space and provides fewer links.
And is it just me, or is the "Latest Forum Topics" list shorter in the Rift version?

Also, I'm not a fan of the huge icons.

What icons does the forum version add? I am genuinely confused.

:eyebrow: Those big icons on the left menu that aren't in the default sidebar.

Why are they turned on by default?
And how do I turn them off?

Press the X in the corner. AFAIK Rift's intended for use without it. I certainly prefer it that way and use it thus.

Then the forum version of RIFT is exactly the same as the current default, as far as I can tell.

Also, that gets rid of the side panel... I like the side panel.

I'm not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet,

Notices now tell you when you receive telegrams, but there is a slight problem.

Today I got a notice that I received two telegrams from two different people. When I clicked on it, it told me I do not have permission to see the telegram. I checked my telegrams preferences and all telegrams are allowed. What is going on?
The chances are your opinion, as well as mine, includes "I don't care" somewhere in it.

Pick one or more of the following options:
Pick Option B
Pick Option C
Pick Option D
Congratulations! You've won a free trip to Warzone Vacation Resort!

I personally feel that the Nationstates logo is a bit out of place between the sidebar and your nation name + flag at the top left.

This is also a problem I have been having since I began using Rift.
