I'm unsure what you mean here. It's zoomed, but not distorted. The aspect ratio is unchanged.

Bari wrote:Fifthly, when a banner is transitioning, it firsts fades out to complete whiteness, then the same banner fades back in. THEN it transitions to the next banner. So, it fades out, fades in, transitions. There's an unnecessary step in there.

This actually depends on your browser. Chrome supports CSS3 transitions, so one banner fades into the next one. Other browsers lack that feature, so we fade one banner out, then the next in. I agree that the former looks better, but to mimic that effect on browsers without CSS3 transition support requires a lot of CPU horsepower and can look quite jerky.

Bari wrote:So those are my critiques. If I have any more suggestions or if I find anymore issues, I will be sure to post them. I hope they are found to be helpful or, at least, valid.

They certainly are! These and other suggestions in the thread are really great. I'm sorry I can't respond to them all individually right now, since I'm still bug-hunting, but they are appreciated.

Okay, maybe "distorted" was a poor choice of a word. I suppose, given my flag's design, the flag looks distorted, but that's only due to the fact that certain parts of it are cut out or faded out, which gives it a weird appearance. Regardless, I still think it would look better with a set up similar to that of the forum.

I think I understand, but, to be clear, there is no easy solution for that particular issue, correct?

No, thank you for releasing this new theme. It's overall nice. I understand you can't respond to them all, but, if you do find yourself with the time, I would appreciate an update on those suggestions (just because I'm curious) of at least whether they're being considered or not. Anyways, thank you.

I think it requires somewhere around 750 pixels wide. Which, you're right, is too big for very narrow screens. But you'd want to avoid pushing that minimum up much higher. There are plenty of people in the 800-1200px width area.

Agreed. Hopefully with some "responsive design" goodness, that minimum could be eradicated and made somewhat more reasonable (perhaps closer to 250px? I bet that's doable if the header can be made to collapse/expand depending on screen dimensions).

I did indeed, thank you. I'm dealing with bugs (things that don't work) as a priority right now, and will look at enhancements next. I do think that white border around flags might go with the next Rift update... earlier in testing we had white borders around more elements (such as WA Member badges), so it fit into a general concept, but this is no longer the case.

Gold is AWESOME but gets annoying quickly as a color on the screen.

This is true. I was thinking more in terms of accents and box edges, while much of the functionality graphics would mirror the current Dark theme.

I certainly love this new and revolutionary idea but It definitely needs some improvements to bugs that are coming up, for instance there are several banners I should have access to but don't for some reason and I hope they fix that problem before they are done with the beta.

To help the admin figure out the bug, think you could mention which ones, and why you should have access to them?

I do like the "Dark Rift", but the only thing I'm finding is the SC Resolution at vote notifier is even more glaring: it's not just a (1), it's a big blue bubble (1). I really wish we had the opportunity to toggle off SC at vote notifications.

So, I've noticed another bug. What with the new WASC resolution coming up for a vote, there's a blue (1) bubble that pops up on the gameside sidebar (still have the forumside sidebar disabled), and only goes away when I vote on the resolution. It comes back after I withdraw my vote (because I'd rather not participate in that aspect of this place).

Please be more specific on what it is you perceive as a 'slip up'. I see you sent out a recruitment telegram, and got a lot of responses due to that.

There's a bit annoying thing about Rift: Notices notice you about things you already get noticed about otherwise. Telegrams and issues for example.

Ballotonia

I have already explained it and given details~

The theme played up. I send mass recruitment to WA members - and non-WA member got notified of recieving the telegram but when they clicked it they didn't have permission to view it. So there's re a lot of people asking me what I sent them and why they can't see it.

I've provided links and proof - others gave screenshots. It's just a little grrr.

It might be my computer being stupid or something but...

Everytime I go to options and choose to change my banner it goes to my nation page and nothing happens. The url is "http://nationstates.net/page=banners", but it's just the normal nation page, nothing changes at all. How can I fix this?

IGNORE THIS, PROBLEM FIXED, I'M STUPID

I was using the rift.nationstates.net page, which was causing the problem. Now I feel stupid.

I'm sure this has been brought up elsewhere, but in case it hasn't:

I think it's redundant to have a notice for new issues twice; it shows up on the issues icon and on the notices icon. I'd rather just have it solely on the issues icon to save duplication.
