I haven't seen much in negativity the last few pages. Most are positive comments containing helpful feedback.

@Esty. TG don't show in the left sidebar. The top nav bar doesn't show (on Firefox) in forums. I' have my nation page open in a separate tab to access TG.

Good point.

And TG doesn't show up on the forums in Chrome either. ;_;

I really dig the new theme. Liberal NS was fun for a while but time for a change with me.

I think the banners are really nifty, kind of like achievements I guess. I don't suppose we'll get more customizable options in the future? I see we can for Population Milestones but think be nice to enhance the banner to match my nation's theme a little better like if I have a national religion to match it better. Of course I haven't unlocked that one oddly enough so I'm not even sure what that looks like....

I like having a national motto attributed to my leader, though I can understand how that wouldn't work for everyone so please make it an option instead of dropping it entirely like the FAQ suggests.

That's it from me, I'm excited to see where this theme will go in the future.

Try toggling them all on, then go pick your primary and hit save changes, mine is at the top of the page though on top of all the banners. See if that works.

I'd like to post some ideas for the new Rift theme:

1. How about, when we upload a banner, we have the ability to crop it to our liking? Currently there's no way to do so and trying to upload a custom image can be frustrating at times when the image doesn't fit well.

2. For the national quote, if it's going to be quoted anyway, I think we should have the option to choose who exactly said the quote instead of it automatically being the leader.

There's my ideas!

As was pointed out in [violet]'s OP, the Rifts sidebar doesn't cohabitate with the forums all that well. You have to shift to a Topbar.

To do that, go to the forums and click the little X at the upper right corner of the sidebar. You'll get an announcement screen, and from then on you'll have a Topbar instead of a sidebar.

I'm thinking a checkbox beside either the Leader ot the Motto, giving you the choice of "Attributed to Leader?"

That's a really good idea, Google+ and YouTube has that feature when you upload a pic beyond the dimensions it will pop up a crop box so you can adjust it to get the most of your image.

There is that too, it's very difficult to please everyone at once. And doing things like that makes it even harder to try and configure things like they want them to be, especially when the person won't say so.

Ah didn't see that, my fault. Not that it matters for me, I rarely ever check my TG while I'm on the forums, lol. But thanks for repeating it.

Might I suggest a small redesign of the badges for 'WA Delegate', 'Roleplay Mentor", 'Game Moderator', 'Issues Editor', etc.? I actually like the placement of them on the bottom right of the banners, and the rounded commend/condemn icons look great, but the current badges for those usergroups, being rectangular and beveled, doesn't seem to fit too well with the rest of the theme.

Other than that, looks super :D
If you ever have an RPing question, please TG me about it.

Nitpicks! Nitpicks everywhere!

  • There's a funny white border around my nation's flag (screenshot). I think the design looks cleaner without it (screenshot).
  • The letter spacing in the nation category (e.g. "Civil Rights Lovefest") looks strange, though I'm not sure how to improve that.
  • The region/influence bubbles look a bit funny with only the top half filled in (screenshot). Perhaps remove the background on them altogether (screenshot)?

I just have to reselect it again for it to stick, but it's just a hassle to do it every time I change something. Not to mention the part where the banner that became primary (usually "Hiking" or "Island of Many HIlls" for me) have to be turned back on, or else they'd be off.

EDIT: I'm using Chrome, if it's helpful.

The inability to have a TG link while browsing the forums or doing much of anything outside the nation page is rather irritating.

As I sometimes combine forum projects with some serious telegramming back and forth for consultation I find this unacceptable. I'd want them to see my TGs as soon as possible as well, rather than log out while completely oblivious to the fact they've received something.

If Rift is going to eliminate my inbox entirely from the sidebar, it needs to introduce a prompt still visible elsewhere.

Already done. Read the OP, please.

Now the major drawback: currently Rift doesn't translate well to the forums, especially if you use the forum sidebar (which is the default). If you turn off the forum sidebar by clicking the tiny X in its top-right, you'll get a topbar instead, which is somewhat more useful. In time, Rift support will extend to the forums, but for now it's not so great.

Perhaps even the style used by Facebook, as it gives more liberty on the placing?
