Endorsements?

Postby Xoriet » Wed Jul 09, 2014 8:03 am

On this (my main) nation I had WA a few days ago, having approximately 68 endorsements at the time of resigning with Xoriet. I rejoined the WA with this same nation last night, and realized that I apparently have 67 endorsements - still. Seeing as only one person has endorsed me in the region since I assumed WA again, this seems abnormal. Is this a bug, possibly?

I have NS++ usually, but I disabled it and checked again to ensure that this wasn't the problem.

Ever thought that two people unendorsed you, then someone endorsed you to give you 67 endorsements? Could be the case, if I understand this correctly.
You ever woke up one morning and just decided it wasn't one of those days and you were gonna break some stuff?

When you dropped WA membership you should've lost all your endorsement, but didn't. That's a bug. Enjoy your extra endorsements though. If you want to lose them, please try to drop WA/rejoin again.

Question for the techies - or people who switch their WA nation (which, seriously, I've never done - same nation with WA status for the past .... almost 11 years):

Does it matter if you drop WA and rejoin before your nation updates? Would that help you "maintain your endorsements" or will they now all be auto-cleared when you drop WA, regardless of how quickly you rejoin the WA?

If you drop and rejoin inside of the same update, you do not lose your endorsements. If you drop and rejoin after an update, it is like starting fresh, you lose everything.

About what I figured, but thanks for the confirmation. :)

The above is wrong. If you drop and rejoin immediately, regardless of update, you lose all your received endorsements. What you state is for the GIVEN endorsements.

This is also why the OP shows a bug. That should not have happened. Only thing I can think of right now is some weird low-probability timing issue.

The way I stated it is actually correct. An "endorsement" is when I "endorse" you. There is not really a good term for received endorsements. The point being your endorsements of nations do remain in place, when you resign and rejoin between updates.

I am bringing this back up and something has changed, I am not sure when.
I left the region Spear Danes prior to update and updated in the region Space. I moved back to Spear Danes and the endorsements I had given are still there. Those should have dropped when Spear Danes updated.

Now either there is a bug or tech have changed at some point how endorsements work. Given endoes should be dropped as well as those received.

That's how it works, I think, based off what Ballo said above. Received endos clear out, but given endos are retained in that situation.

Perhaps that should change, but I wonder if that wouldn't be better suited for a new thread on the subject?

I heard a major delegate, I think it was Sev, say he had switched during update to assist in an invasion. No idea if I misheard, but it struck me as very wrong at the time because I thought that should have been a bug. Possibly something has changed in the code? I know this was never the case before (I've tried countless times before unsuccessfully).

Indeed it was never the case before. Given and received both dropped if you updated out of region. So either it was changed deliberately or there is a bug of some sort.
