Right, so my probably-too-ambitious suggestion is to use the existing bytecoin (not my favourite April Fool's) software infrastructure to power a new model for the economy calculators in NS.
Essentially, my basic thought is it would work like this.
1. There would be a separate "exchange" for each industry in the game.
2. Issues that grow a particular industry would give a stake in the relevant exchange (similar to buying or mining bytecoins).
3. Issues that harm a particular industry would cause a diminishment in the stake in the relevant exchange (similar to a sale).
4. Issues that grow the economy would cause an increased stake in every exchange (and vice versa).
5. There would be no way to manipulate the exchange bar through the effects of issues.
