The issue with that being that any new website on the side will still have to either run on the same hardware as the rest of NS, thus doing absolutely nothing to alleviate the problem or on additional hardware which would solve our problems anyway.

No one the bytecoin.

Though, I would like an economic aspect to this game, that isn't just RPing shit.

Considering how obsessive some people are with this (having a trillion^trillion or whatever insane numbers make up the leaderboard takes dedication), I'm pretty sure that keeping bytecoin would result in at least 34 students failing their finals this semester, 14 marriages ending because one spouse cares more about bytecoin than their sex life or going to work, and two deaths from dehydration.

So fuck yeah, let's do it.

I'm rather annoyed at all the posters here who think that keeping ByteCoin (and other NS related games) as an option would mean the site gets tons of traffic every day. That is absurd idea, bordering on downright idiotic. Most of the people would stop caring and the people who still want to play would keep playing. The hype would die down, like it inevitably does with any new thing.

Even if I am wrong, the ByteCoin stayed popular, and NS got tons more traffic every day, that is still a good thing. Max would make that much more from ads and the store, could invest in better/more servers for NS, and everyone would be happy.

I would however support a petition that forced technical forum posters to pass basic competencies on spelling, grammar, the internet, and technology. :palm:

Last I checked the site does; however, make money off of Ads, and The Site Store

I myself have purchased countless supporter accounts, I own at least four postmaster counts, and two postmaster-general accounts. While I've purchased at least $60.00 in telegram stamps this year. Not to mention the account upgrades, and stamps I've gifted to friends.

There are 37236 nations on nationstates. Assuming they all just spend $1.00 in the nationstates store, and that money is spent on a server we could easily get a new one of very high quality.

I have to say I'd love to see these things come in as aspects of NS. The game has few facets and I think the reason we see such a huge spike on Z day and April Fools is that many folks finally have something else to do.

Surely some kind of throttling could reduce the load on the servers. Even time would reduce load as the novelty wore off.

We've seen something which added a war minigame and a currency market. Awesome inventions by the Admin and it is quite a shame that their hard work is only useful for about 3 or 4 days a year. Yes, part of the charm is the novelty but I think what we are really seeing is the reaction of folks who finally have something else to do.

I couldn't agree with you more Cerb.

Max has stated time and time again a war system won't be implemented. However I don't see why some sort of currency market similar to the one we used today would hurt any. With bytecoin exchanges nations that are registered as bytecoin exchanges can be given the option to seize all of a nations money or certain amount of money from nations banking with them if they don't like the way nations are developing, or acting on the international stage. Such as freezing assets.

If you don't like the lack of features in NS then leave. The whole fun part about NS is that it's your own sandbox. Thousands of players have managed to find fun with it. There are whole other spheres of fun besides answering issues and debating shit to death in general.

I personally like the lack of features compared to other nation sims, as it allows us to create our own fun instead of just turning it into some other half-assed stat crunching game (i.e. Cybernations, PT, PN, etc.)

Go try something new on the site if you're bored. Roleplaying, R/D, WA stuff, regional politics, gameplay politics, making new issues, some weird inane Forum 7 game. But dont' go around complaining about the lack of features when there's plenty of stuff to do.
