So I'm new here and I received a telegram saying that a guy's nation has endorsed me and he says to endorse him back. I would but how do I know he endorsed me? I'm trying to avoid being tricked so I posted this topic.

Look at the bottom of your nation page. It should have a list of people who endorsed you.
