It now looks a bit too high, too crammed into the top part of the flag. Maybe if the whole thing were lowered a touch?

Hhmm.. I see what you mean, because the logo was enlarged it appeared to close to the top.

Image

Moving it down a notch seems to have corrected some of the aesthetic and positive/negative-space problems

People who rule from them. ;)
I wish I remember who wrote:Games like Nationstates are like a big cardboard box, and there are two kinds of people in the world. The kind who look at the empty void inside the box and ask "Where the hell is it?" and the kind who jump into the box with their friends and make it into a fort, or a spaceship.

Blown up like that it's starting to look like we're really into comic books. (And we may well be! :p) Can we find a book design that looks more respectable?

To save yourself the time, make a version with the same sizes and dimensions you have now, and another version with the book and the emblem somewhat enlarged, and we'll see which looks better.

...And it's not like I don't appreciate all the time and effort you've already put into this, Uni. I really do.

I kind of am amused by your idea but that is not quite what we're looking for. For the record the book seems to be a good idea for the Ga but I might try with different objects when I get Illustrator running.

Glad you like it, I just think the WA symbol looked wimpy and distorted, so I played around with the logo from the commendation.

The WA badge is an imitation of the UN laurel.

Oh no, that's part of what I liked about it. It looked like a raddy old book cover, a worn and ancient relic of international law from the days of the UN that lasts to this day. Sounds kinda corny, I know, but there it is. I also like that there appear to be two books: one for the historical resolutions, and "the new book of international law" or whatever was referenced in GA #1.

We should probably get a general consensus on whether the royal blue or the sky blue is preferred. (It pains me to admit it, especially since royal blue was my suggestion, but the original color looked better.)

Hahaha!

Ha. I didn't know if anyone was going to catch that reference.

The actual references are.. "ARCHIVES all previously passed UN Resolutions", "DECLARES the pages of international law to be blank;", "INVITES members of the World Assembly to begin work on a new volume, which may in time exceed even the grandeur of its predecessor.", which depicts the WA metaphorically as the second book in a series.

I must admit that I am not too keen on the current WA logo for cosmetic reasons, but the wreath has been in use through many institutions for many centuries (not just the UN or Investors in People (UK)), so here is my rough draft of the new logo not just for the councils, but also for the WA as a whole:

Image

As you see here, this is the core design of the new logo: the centre could have a different emblem for each council. The circular wording can be omitted for smaller images or can simply say "World Assembly - Security Council" or "World Assembly". it has been designed on Adobe Illustrator.

More to come.
