Influence Calculation

Postby Alsted » Fri Oct 16, 2009 11:55 pm

All-

Is there a formula for influence? That is, is there a set algorithm for how many influence "points" a nation earns per endorsement and per day? Is there a multiplier effect with more endorsements? Is there somewhere public a nation can look to find current influence numbers and how far one has to go to surpass the next nation on the list?

Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks much.

No, there's no formula. The game makes up whatever it wants, since we gave it free will.

So that's why I've been a minnow for the past two months. (I'm just assuming two months as a number. I'm not really sure I've been in Lazarus that long.)

The game obviously hates me. :(

Hah, don't listen to him. Everyone knows free will isn't available in the version of perl the game's written in.

Plus, I just got a telegram from "NationStates" advising me that Pythagosaurus is just making stuff up and "NationStates does not actually have free will." Would the game itself lie to me? I mean, come on.

Of course the game doesn't have free will...

The computer system that's running it, on the other paw, happens to be 'Skynet'...
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

Yes, there's a formula, but it's kept secret. Players have looked into Influence though, and figured stuff out (which may or may not be correct). Some share their information with others, while some keep what they've discovered securely under their hats.

See for instance: http://safalra.com/other/nationstates/influence/
