Thanks for these. Please keep the reports coming when you see scam or browser hijacking ads like this.

As our lord commands. Thanks for letting this free game stay playable.

Most of these start at gogo.powerangers.com, though briefly. So they look to be the source for the Trojans.

Again, these are only showing on NS, but they happen more frequently (every other time I click a link to on here to do anything, with the exception of answering issues).

I've asked that the Spicy Lingerie ad be blocked, as it's a little risque for our userbase.

The ones I'm really interested in hunting down, though, are the outright scams that try to tell you you've won an iPad or whatever -- especially if they hijack your click and try to redirect you somewhere.

I have a dedicated person from our ad host wanting to track these down this week, so please report any you see, with screenshot + URL if you're able.

Isn't that a good thing?

Yes, but I finally got the ad provider to give me a dedicated person to complain to, and suddenly I have nothing to complain about. :(

There's this one advertisement that always forcibly redirects me. Only one time that it has appeared has it not redirected me to another website.
I took this photo before it redirected me to another site.
https://ibb.co/64h4gTb

I wasn't able to take a screenshot of the site it took me to before, but I got the ad again later and this is what it looks like.
https://ibb.co/cvk5ssR

I doubt this is on my end because I haven't downloaded anything recently other than images and just ran a quick scan.

Thanks.

I keep getting an inappropriate (18+) ad. I can't upload a screenshot, because I am on my phone, and the ad doesn't have the Google ad report menu that most ads have, so I can't get rid of it.

Galloism wrote:Hello Nationstates. I thought i'd let you know, on ipad, if a user sees ads, they're being redirected to sites that are attempting to get the user to download malware.

Some domains it's redirecting to:

ufye.koofukrev.site (followed by a long string) is the most common one (attempting to get the user to install flash, on an ipad, for extra irony points)
uwuiziopo.xyz (saying your norton subscription, on your ipad, has expired)

The former seems a lot more common than the latter. It seems definitely connected to the ad service though, as very very quickly logging into nationstates (I'm a supporter, I get no ads) cures the issue, and there's no redirects.

Here's an article that seems to discuss the problem:

https://support.google.com/adsense/thread/2108990?hl=en

You may need to contact google.

I’ve experienced the same issue, and have been savvy enough to know not to click on it.

It pops up for me right at the start of major update, and keeps popping up for the duration. Afterwards it isn’t a problem.

I’ll quote this from your “Ads and Redirects” thread into the “Inappropriate Advertising” thread to bring it to admin’s attention.

This malvertising Safari browser hijacking campaign has been continuous for a few days now, and is persistent.

Rather than reward such behavior by NationStates and its third party advertisers by purchasing your in-house adblocking service, I am terminating our relationship and my use of your site, effective immediately.

Not a site staff, but a little patience would have helped, wouldn't it?

I'm sure they have been trying their best at it, so... To leave a game just because of that seems petty and passive-aggressive. I personally would wait it out since these things can take a while; won't see a reason to leave or lay low unless a major privacy breach happened. It's annoying, I can sympathise, but they have been looking into it in just 2 days.

Rome wasn't built in a day; Trojan Horses aren't smashed in 2 days.

I saw a report elsewhere on the site about a new redirecting ad - these things tend to come in waves, so if anyone else spots it, please report it!

Bit too raunchy to be permissible for this site, wouldve thought. The thumbnail showed a topless woman.

I looked at the site, and the "Tour" included an image of a cartoon female in a skin-tight halter top. Not topless, just aimed at impressionable males. It wasn't any raunchier than your typical female superhero costume.

Dunno if this belongs here or not, but I’m seeing forum ads even though I paid for Postmaster General. Was there a limit to how long the ad-free stuff would last?

Nope. As far as I know, it's a permanent condition.

What we have seen is your "No advertisements" button in Settings sometimes spontaneously unchecks itself. Have a look.

Was checked when I looked. Unchecked and rechecked just for the sake of due diligence. Still got ads.

Edited: Went one step further. Unchecked box, hit update, rechecked, hit update again. Issue resolved.

I should not have to do that, though. ‘s damned irregular.

Shouldn’t this thread be in moderation?

EDIT: Ah, never mind, I see that this is a place to report inappropriate site advertising.

No. Moderators don't have access to the advertiser control panel. That's an admin thing, and [v] reads this forum reliably.

I saw an ad that was just a black banner when I was viewing the forums logged out, when I hovered my mouse over it there was no URL, instead it said;
Javascript:window.open(window.clickTag)
. As I understand it that would cause my Javascript driver to open, which seems like not an ad.
