I haven't heard anyone oppose showing banlists, so we'll add a way to view it.

The XML feeds are documented. Needing to type isn't the issue, it's that the banlist was only viewable by players who were taught how to do it by someone in the know (or who liked to experiment with URLs).

As mentioned above by several invaders and defenders, its extremely important for us to be able to see the banlist, and it should therefore be something visible to everyone.

How about only giving the option to founders then? Regions with founders are non-targets for the defender/invader game anyway. And it would give people the option to play in a more dictatorship style region.

I don't see how being able to see the banlist is hurting dictatorship style regions... There are hundreds across NS, and they have all functioned fine with it for how many years?

They would even run finer and it gives more choices and it doesn't hurt anyone (since it would be founder-only which means it doesn't hurt invading/defending game).

Regions now have a little "Administration..." link which shows you the banlist and other relevant settings.

Heh, the banlist is now easier to read than it was before. Thanks [violet]!

Oh, it seems there's an HTML flaw in the page:
Code: Select all
<p><input type="checkbox" id="showpass" name="showpass" value="1" disabled
 DISABLED
<span id="ShowPasswordLabel" class="protected">
Region password is displayed to residents.</p>

Note the input type isn't closed properly. I also was expecting it to read "checked" or have a blank line instead of the capitalized "DISABLED". After all, the prior line already states the input is disabled.

Ballotonia wrote:Agreed, both the banlist and the 'delegate has access to regional control' setting should be public information, just like it has always been.

Natives have IMHO the right to see what their founder/delegate is doing, so they can place their endorsements accordingly (or leave, in case of a Founder misbehaving). Hiding information from them is bad and frustrates normal politicking in a region.

Also, this information has always been used in Gameplay.

Banlist should be. Delegate has access to regional control. No.

Actually, the ability to see whether the delegate has access to regional controls is another thing vital for the invader/defender game, as if a region with an inactive founder is raided, it allows defenders to see if there's a need to liberate (which there is if the delegate can access regional controls). Therefore I'm glad it is displayed.

The administration page looks very nice - thanks!

I dont see how there was any issue with how things were before and have been for years. I dont think there was any substantial demand to change the system we already had and any change will just make gameplay more restrictive when one of the things that has helped the game grow so much was that people could improvise and turn the information available into useful tools to enhance a number of different gameplay styles.
