Getting extra issues?

Postby New South Hell » Tue Jan 10, 2012 6:21 pm

I thought I should report this, even though I'm not entirely sure it's a real problem.

Three times in the last two weeks, a nation of mine has gotten an extra issue on an update. Twice, I got an extra issue for the nation Revolving Door. The first time, I shrugged it off, thinking I'd forgotten to look at it after the previous update. The second time it occurred, I thought maybe it was a problem with that specific nation, though it has not changed regions in a very long time, and I understand that's the usual cause of issue irregularities. This afternoon, I got an extra issue for a different nation (Rank and Vile), and I'm reasonably sure that this time it was not a case of having missed an update. As with Revolving Door, it has not been doing any region-changing lately.

Unfortunately, I don't recall exactly when the first instance of the problem was, though I believe it was last week.

It's not really a problem - I don't mind an extra issue occasionally - but it might be a symptom of a more general problem.

I wonder if it has something to do with the new issues that are being added? I seem to get most of the new ones quite quickly, which made me wonder if new issues were 'forced' through in some manner when they're added that could cause an issue hiccup. Total conjecture though.
There was a signature here. It's gone now.

Agreed with above. I have been getting the same thing and thought the same.

I'm not aware of new issues being forced through in any way.

Also, I've checked each nation that people said had this bug - and the records indicate you've only been getting 1 issue per update.

Rank and Vile specifically - you're saying that the two you currently have (#175 and #280) are the two you received at an update? The records indicate that #175 arrived at the minor update today, and #280 at the major update before that.

OK, that explains it for R&V, if I got 280 first. I didn't answer that issue right away in any nation that got it, and I'd just overlooked that R&V was one of them.

I can say that the other two instances did not involve new issues. So if there is a problem, it might be related somehow to the new issues, but my experience of the problem (or hallucination) only involved a new issue the time it didn't happen the way I thought it did. (And I think I saw the first instance before the new issues got added, for whatever that's worth.)

Final conclusion: There's probably nothing to it, unless someone else has a more confirmable instance of a problem.

Thanks for checking into it.

Then there is something wrong... Maybe with mine or with the games system. Maybe I just mis-calulated... Who knows.

If we're talking about the last two days, I'm pretty sure your miscalculation is the cause. You have four open - #71 from the 8th, #234 and #177 from yesterday, and #97 from this morning's update.

I got an extra yesterday because I'm the author of one of those new issues. The other authors get copies too, even if they wouldn't ordinarily qualify for their own issue. Apart from that, I'm not seeing any deviation from anyone who has complained thus far.

FYI, I run a script to answer the new issues after each update for all my nations (224), and I can assure you I would notice if any of them got more than one issue in an update. Never seen it happen.

Getting extra issues?

Since the game prefers to give nations fresh issues rather than repeats, when a new issue enters the game, it is likely to pop up quickly in nations that have already answered most/all of the old ones.

Mmmmm. I do this too, though my scripts are not as powerful as I understand Ballotonia's to be. But there is a difference, which is that I am making a version of my script available to anyone who wants it. See http://cityofulthar.wordpress.com/2011/05/16/nasty-software-from-hell/ , and follow the contact instructions therein if you're interested.
