No nation pretitle

Postby Maritime States » Thu Jan 05, 2012 2:43 pm

Is it at all possible for there to be an option for having no national pre-title. Many countries IRL had no pretitle, such as Hungary, Ukraine, as well as others. Anyway, is it at all possible for there to be an option for no pretitle?

It's impossible. All nations MUST choose the pretitle.

Nations with populations over 500 million can write their own pretitle.

A worldwide survey was conducted by the UN. The only question asked was: 'Would you please give your honest opinion about solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world ?' The survey was a huge failure... In Africa they didn't know what 'food' meant. In Eastern Europe they didn't know what 'honest' meant. In Western Europe they didn't know what 'shortage' meant. In China they didn't know what 'opinion' meant. In the Middle East they didn't know what 'solution' meant. In South America they didn't know what 'please' meant. And in the USA they didn't know what 'the rest of the world' meant." — Benja.

No matter what you do, "The" <pretitle> "of" <nation> is hard coded. Unless you want "The . of <nation>", you're stuck with something in there.

I'd go with "untitled nation" if I were you.

Rejected, the game does not allow unusual characters. Minimum of three characters as well.

The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

Is there a way to prevent automatic capitalisation so that it becomes as close to a phrase as possible?

I tried using invisible characters but the game does not allow for it, and it has a three character minimum.

I'm dissatisfied with the current pretitle system.

An example of countries in the real world allowed in NationStates:
Commonwealth of Australia (shortly, Australia)

An example of countries in the real world ROUGHLY allowed in NationStates:
Kingdom of the Netherlands (shortly, (the) Netherlands) [in NationStates: "Kingdom of The Netherlands" or "Kingdom of Netherlands"]

Examples of countries in the real world not allowed in NationStates:
Japan (currently it doesn't have its own pretitle after WWII)
(the) French Republic (shortly, France)

nation's name idea

Postby Holaloperho » Sat Jan 07, 2012 4:53 am

Since some country in real world put their classification first, I am wondering will it be possible to do so in here
For example, instead of " The commonwealth of Holaloperho", will it be alright to make it become "Holaloperho commonwealth"?
It is painful to know too much;
yet I always keen to know more.

thing is that for practical reasons, we are limited to a fixed name that is also the unique identifier for the nation in all cases and everywhere in the game.

changing the words 'the' and 'of' and the pretitle itself are no problem i think, but abolishing pretitle or switching them around will cause great confusion because it gives a lot more possibilities to make fake 'copies' of other player's nations.
