renaming nations is a good idea, but the mods ignoring the idea...

wait a minute...

Renaming nations is a weak idea, due to inefficient matrix array flags which could be caused by changing long-standing data. JEEESUS it's not that hard to work out is it?

If you have 1.2 billion people, and you have to rename your nation, you have to start over with a a nation with 5 million people. Also, lots of history may be deleted with the other nation, so it's unfair to long-time players.

Unfair how?

And why would you have to rename your nation?

EDIT: I would really like an answer to the second question, because it might also answer the first.

Wouldn't you notice those errors fairly soon, long before growing to 4.5 billion people?

No- you'd just live with the nation, realizing that that's what you did.

It's bad for RP, you can't have a large a military if you start a new nation with only 5 million as you could with an older nation of 5 billion.

Of course I would go tell the II dicks (those that get all uppity about population shit not all IIers) to go fuck themselves and this is a part of the RP and that my population is the one from the original account not the new nation but I will be using that name and account.
You know you've made it on NSG when you have a whole thread created around what you said.

It is all RP, nation names change in RL you might want to change your name.

For example in my RP the Blouman Empire at somepoint will not always be known as the Blouman Empire, the Emperor will one day be deposed and an elected federal government will take its place. Now the name of the nation will no longer be the Blouman Empire but rather Bloumany.

No- you'd just live with the nation, realizing that that's what you did.

But you could just as easily start a new nation right there, fixing the grammar error, and losing no growth.

So, the risk of losing all the history and size of a nation is easily avoided.

If you reference another thread, it helps if provide the link, so people know what you're actually on about (especially since your suggestion was posted with a puppet).
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=12163 :)

Buccaneers FC wrote:There was this one suggestion about being allowed to customize your nation name (not prefix) after you had registered.

It also helps if you explain what yourself clearly. From this comment, I understood that you wanted to be able to change the actual name, which isn't going to happen, for a variety of technical reasons.

But your idea in your other thread seems to be wanting to have the option to have the custom title before or after the name, which seems reasonable, although there may be some technical reason that might make it difficult to do so.

Buccaneers FC wrote:However, the mods completely ignored it and denounced it.

While the mods as a group more or less did the former, the one mod reply you did get seems to me to have been a result of misunderstanding and question fatigue. The idea seems to have been misunderstood to be the age old "lets allow people to change their names!" suggestion that has been answered again and again and again and again and again and again and again, such that the mods simply get tired of answering it properly. (Plus it's in the Tech FAQ)

Buccaneers FC wrote:Do you think they're becoming more closed-minded to new ideas?

Actually rather just the opposite, especially in relation to the custom fields. :)

It would also open up a whole new option for In-Character politics. Your nation has undergone a coup and been renamed "The People's Republic of Bugger Off You Lot". Same population, different leadership, different name.

so far, any improvements to the WA, banning raiding, and other suggestions such as this, have been ignored due to lack of interest on the mod part.
