Could we make available disgraced nations thou? There are a lot of "RL" nations being taken up by someone sometime ago and for some reason, all those "RL" nations ended up disgraced/soiled. Any chance that those names can be used again?

Treat it as ban evasion? Mod has tools to detect DoS players after all.

I can't think of any names that we've manually marked as reserved.

Large nations or nations that have contributed to the site (e.g. issues authors, etc.) get their names reserved automatically so that other people can't steal their reputation.

Mod-deleted nations are reserved partly to make it more effective as a punishment -- since the owner can never get their old name back -- and partly to prevent obscene names from being reused.

So you not only take away their account but also their name... And you make it so no players can use names of mod punished players? That's a fitting punishment I guess.... Also I now understand that some nations that contributed to the site in any way (Author, Issues, all moderators etc) get reserved so nobody can steel their reputation in the feature..... Also I know that nations with over 5 billion citizens get marked as a reserved as well! But I still see nations listed under "Retired" that had been used by site supporters and some people who passed away (Like Zooke and Dyakovo)

The population you have to hit before your nation is reserved is 500 million, not 5 billion.

She's alive and well ... and if she has any other nations, she keeps them hidden. Apart from Testlandia, that is; and that nation is occasionally shared with others for testing purposes.

I can confirm 21 Jan 2003 on my end as well, although I do have one question regarding that: if this "Violet" nation was just an impersonator and not in relation to the [violet] we all know, how come it's referred to as being "used by a former moderator"? Was this manually put in later on, or is there some other weird bit of NS history I don't know about?

And pardon my ignorance, but how exactly does having a forum account but no nation work? What would happen if [violet] were to go to nationstates.net and type in her username and password?

Yes, there was a [reploidproductions] account in the early days of Jolt, though the nation of Reploid Productions has also been around since antiquity (March 2003) and to my knowledge it has never ceased to exist.
