Symbols in RMB

Postby Icamera » Tue Sep 06, 2011 7:30 pm

I tried posting the 'eth (Ð)' symbol on my RMB, but it came out as an A with a squiggly above it.

Any reason why it's doing that?

The preview does show it as "Ð" for me.

How did you type it on your keyboard? Copy/paste? (I copy/pasted it from the web page you linked to)

It may be due to your keyboard settings (if you have multiple settings defined, toggle between them using Left-ALT + SHIFT, on windows).

Well, it's still doing that when I preview the post, but I decided to just post it and it turned out fine. Weird, but problem solved.

I've had trouble with posting characters before, but only rare ones like ÿ for instance.

It may be browser-dependent. I've had this problem with Firefox since the preview feature was first released. I think I reported it then (not absolutely sure), but if so, it was never resolved.

(What is being shown in the Preview, at least if you see what I see, is UTF-8, which displays non-ASCII characters as sequences of two or more Latin-1 characters, Latin-1 being ASCII augmented with 33 more control characters and 95 more visible characters. Pedants please forgive my over-simplification.)
