Approving proposals as Regional Happenings spam

Postby Omigodtheykilledkenny » Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:53 am

http://www.nationstates.net/region=zhau ... friendship

This is certainly not Nemo's fault; he likes to approve proposals, but I don't think he ever asked for his approval history to be listed on Regional Happenings. There's certainly no fault in including these items on a Delagate's National Happenings history, but on Regional Happenings it tends to become rather spammy and should probably be reconsidered.

Announcing the Delegate vote on resolutions certainly hasn't created the same problem, and is fine as far as I am concerned -- unless a Delegate changes his vote so many times that-- well, you get the idea.

I think the solution is indeed to filter the delegate approvals happenings to the National Happenings. That may make it tidier. So far I cannot find a rational way to delete approval actions superseded by later actions, though. The happenings function can be compared to your everyday printer.

I'd agree with removing approving proposals from the regional happenings. It can get quite annoying when you lose all the happenings because your delegate goes on an approval spree. They're not like resolutions - I can understand having them recorded on regional happenings.

On the other hand, some regions might like having that handy readout to see what their delegate is doing.

Hrm... what about a setting in regional control to turn them off?

Probably the best decision.

A reasonable compromise! So few of them happen in the WA! :p

Just throwing it out there; :p

Also, the proposal line in the regional happenings could be a lot more beneficial if it created a link to the proposal in the queue.

Proposals and resolutions are never linked to under any other circumstances in National or Regional Happenings (when you or your delegate votes on a resolution or submits a proposal, etc.); why especially do these proposals require linking?

Never mind, I'd suppose resolutions are not linked because the proposal will only be up to vote for a little while.

Same goes for the queue, unless a proposal is sitting there for a while.

I don't know what you're getting at when you say "these", I meant any proposal that is endorsed.

OK, I've removed proposal votes from the regional happenings for now. They should still be accessible in the delegate's national happenings. I like the idea for converting the proposal description to a link. I'll get on that tomorrow perhaps.

If you see I've made a mistake in my wording or a factual detail, telegram me and I'll fix it. I'll even give you credit for pointing it out, if you'd like.
