MurderLand, Why cant I use the name?

When I search for it it shows no results for a nation named murderland, but when I try to name my country murderland it says its reserved for a previous nation. What the hell?

That's because "Murderland" has most likely been deleted, and will therefore not show up in a search.

Wrong forum, but

the answer is that another nation in the history of NS had that name before you. All names are saved in case the original owner comes back to refound the nation in question. Thus at some point there was a murderland, so you can not be murderland. I'm sure there is some elongated technically answer somewhere, but that is the short of it.

A name once used cannot be used again. They haven't released any of the previously-used names in the database, and I'm not sure where that project stands at this point.
