Thread Lifespan?

In the olden days - all of five or so years ago - when NS hosted the forums, threads were deleted after 60 days of inactivity. Will the same thing happen here, or do we now have the technical kittery to keep them forever more?

I ask only because the oldest World Cup threads were deleted many, many moons ago and we (the sports community, rather than the royal 'we') would rather liked to have kept them, as well as preventing the same thing from happening on here in the future.

Supplementary question: Do we know how many replies a thread can take before it implodes upon itself? Jolt had a capacity of 11,142, if the point we killed the original World Cup Discussion Thread is anything to go by.

I don't know anything about forum purges, but it might be prudent to ask a mod to put a favourite thread in the archives forum.

Yeah, I should probably tack up an Announcement thread for collecting Archive requests at some point soon. :lol:

At this point we're not sure if we have the capacity to keep everything forever, or if we'll have to go back to the 65 page limit we used to have in General. So far according to the boss, the new forum is performing beautifully and is hardly noticing that it's got a forum tacked on; with any luck we won't need to do too much pruning :)

As long as I can preemptively bagsy a request for every World Cup RP and Scores thread to end up being Archived on behalf of the users of Forum Seven (I still love that we've been allocated that number, nice one), then we'll be a very happy community.
