Idea

Postby Kalaspia-Shimarata » Tue Jun 21, 2011 10:18 pm

An idea just poped into my head:
There should be a system where we know the difference between mod-deleted nations, banned nation and nations which died due to inactivity rather than having the one flag, leaving the rest of NS guessing whether or not they are coming back. Sorry, I didn't know which forum this belonged so I guessed Gameplay, if not, sorry! Anyway, what do people think?
Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.

That's a decent idea.

However, you've been on NS a very long time, Kala, you should know this goes in Technical.

Why do you need to know that?

My guess is for founder CTE's
Knowing the founder was DEET'd by Mods means No returns so they would then either plan a refound or secure / invade the region.

Be thankful another mod moved this thread before I came across it. You've got a long record of incorrectly posting threads in Gameplay, and I've told you off about it repeatedly. Take a look around the forums, read their stickies, and learn what goes where. If you don't, you'll pick up a warning for spamming.

There is. You log into the Mod Centre and look the nation up. Nobody else needs this information, and thus doesn't have access to it.

But don't Mods usually post saying "this nation has been Deleted"? This would just be showing the same information, then.

An incredibly small fraction when there is a query as to why the nation was deleted (to which the only person that needs to know why is that player).

I don't think there should be something for banned nations. It wouldn't have to show WHY the nation was deleted, just that it was.

Don't Mods, when dishing out a DEAT, usually make a post saying that nation has been DEAT'd? They don't usually devolve into specifics, and this idea wouldn't have to as well.

Yeah, we don't need the information. Just like we don't need region tags or military RPs on II. But we'd like these things. It'd be interesting as heck, and it wouldn't hurt anybody.

Reasons for differentiating between deleted, banned, and ex-nations
  • It's interesting

Reasons for not differentiating between deleted, banned, and ex-nations
  • It's unnecessary knowledge that requires additional coding on the admins part
  • It creates an unpleasant... feel (for lack of a better term) when going through old threads to see every other poster listed as "banned" or "deleted" rather than a simple "ex-nation"
  • For banned nations, it would require even more coding for when the ban is lifted / expired to reset the nations flag to a previous (or default) version
  • It makes it jarringly obvious when a nation has been banned or deleted, when perhaps moderators wish to keep it low key (such as nations DEATed for exploits or other technical related reasons.)

That's how it looks to me, at least. As mentioned previously, when nations are DEATed, there is usually a post about it in moderation. If you're so interested, find said posts. Don't ask the admins to spend time and effort to code new features because it might be interesting, imo.

...and again, why? What relevance is there to that? It's incredibly easy to find out if a nation was deleted. If you cannot find it in a basic search, it's deleted. Whether or not it's forum-banned is entirely irrelevant. As for forum bans, the reason for the ban is always published on the forum. Again, the information is there.

With that, we're done here.
