Nations names

Why is it when you try to make a new nation , it may say your Nation's name is reserve, but the nation never shows up on the world map. if that name isnt used why can't I use it?

It's because the nation no longer exists, but the original owner can still revive it when they want it back. (if it ceased to exist because of inactivity, that is.)

It's something that we've bandied about from time to time, but it's a problem of exactly how to go about doing so due to the game code and the forum and finding the time to do so with other issues being a bit more pressing/interesting for the techies. Then there's also the problem of where to draw the line in terms of releasing a name.
