Bold, Italics and Underline in WA Resolutions

Postby Sionis Prioratus » Sun Aug 02, 2009 3:28 am

Because it looks far more elegant, and would help very much to emphasize passages WITHOUT CAPS or weird asterisks.

Also, a "Preview Resolution" would be needed. In all sincerity, I think a "Preview Resolution" would be needed even without the addition of bold and italics.

They're great ideas, honoured Sionis Prioratus. These annotations could greatly improve the appearance of the new version of the emigration laws, currently being redrafted. I understand how difficult it was to emphasise the problems of the old version. previewing the resolution would help too, especially if the preview can point out whether the text exceeds the 3500 character limit.

Unibot, please take note of that.

Just so long as we don't have people trying to repeal all the old resolutions just to put some formatting in...

Will do. :p

I did propose this a while back when we first got bold/underline/italic tags in RMBs and telegrams , but it wasn't implemented, in fact it wasn't even replied back to.

I also suggested [proposal] tags for telegrams and RMBs, which would match the proposal queue for the keywords between the tags, and create a link. I thought it would rid us of those ugly URLs in Proposal campaigns.

OK, I've enabled the bold, italic, and underline codes for WA proposals (also nation and region, though those probably shouldn't be used).

I like the [proposal] idea, but implementing it via search is a kludge. And, due to the game being designed by an author, it was impossible to have hard links to proposals until a few days ago (which is how I caused the bug with the new resolution not getting removed from the proposal queue). I'll try to implement a real solution in the next few days.

Darn. I rather hoped Mad Sheep Railgun had used them in my condemnation... (That was funny for the record.)

The next proposal to be submitted should REALLY use them. :D (They are able to be used this second right?)

OK, there's now a [proposal]id[/proposal] tag, but it's not very user friendly yet. To get the ID, you need to view the page source and search for the proposal. At the bottom, you'll find something like this: <input type="hidden" name="proposal" value="new_rockport_1248541413">. The proposal ID in this case is new_rockport_1248541413.

Pyth, a question: Will all the [b], [u], [i] count as characters in what regards the 3.500 char limit?

Good point, honoured ambassador. It probably shouldn't as they are merely annotations. Take note of that too, if you please.

It's just a prediction. [violet] has not outed herself as Mr Barry.

Certainly not in 'General Assembly' proposals, anyway: There is still a rule against 'Branding' there, right?

Only a single co-author may be mentioned, Bears Armed. This justifies the inclusion of the nation tag but NOT the region tag, which should not count towards the 3500 character limit.

Okay, I'd forgotten that point, but we've got along fine for years without direct links to the nations involved -- which are easy enough to check on, anyway -- and I don't really see a need for adding them.

Incidentally, what happens to [nation] and [region] tags if the nation/region concerned ceases to exist?

Yes, the u, i, and b tags count towards the total. It would take actual work to remove them, they do have to get stored with the resolution, and they're not very big anyway.
