No, during a nation's first month of [IC] existence it's only eligible for issues from the first 30 on the list...

Honestly, I despise Issue #016, @@MAJORINDUSTRY@@ Workers Strike! Why are there only two choices? The first choice is dumb because the industry workers' demand is unreasonable and they can keep shutting down an entire industry to make more ridiculous demands later. I've seen what happens when other nations in my region pick the first option, and that's pretty much how it goes. Meanwhile, the second choice is dumb because it puts an entire workforce out on the street. I've chosen this option before and I know it makes a nation far more capitalist than I want my nation to be.

I don't see why there can't be a third option that involves the striking workers and the business leaders finding some compromise solution. That's usually how strikes are ended in reality. I suppose the only thing left for me to do is just dismiss the issue, but I wish I didn't have to do that so often.

Well, that's one of the issues Max wrote, so the chances of it being changed are somewhere between slim and none.

#020: Gunman Kills Three

The Issue
Tragedy struck @@NAME@@ today, as a gunman killed three people in a suburban shooting rampage. The community is united in grief, but divided in opinion as to what should be done.

The Debate
1. The strongest voices demand tighter gun controls. "The only way to prevent further atrocities is to take the guns out of the hands of the murderers," says anti-gun campaigner @@RANDOMNAME@@. "There's no justification for them in today's society. We need tighter regulations on who can hold guns, so only our police and military have them."

2. "That's not all we need," says radical left-wing activist @@RANDOMNAME@@. "The government should ban all guns outright--even in the police force. This is an opportunity to make @@NAME@@ a totally gun-free state."

3. "Guns don't kill people, people kill people," says NRA head honcho @@RANDOMNAME@@. "If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. Is that what we want? Think, people. The answer isn't to ban guns. It's to crack down on those Hollywood movies and computer games that glamorize violence. They're the real criminals."

i recently got that issue and it pissed me off. so, my only options are "regulations on who can have guns", "ban guns altogether" and then if you wanna keep guns... "BAN VIDEO GAMES"?!?!?
i mean what the hell. why not "increase police funding"? or "introduce heavy taxes on all firearms".
it's like. Everyone in @@nation@@ is speeding.

option 1: introduce stricter speed limits.
option 2: introduce built-in speed limiters in all cars
option 3: CUT DOWN ALL THE TREES!

actually, that makes more sense because then cars couldn't crash into trees. so
option3: SET FIRE TO ALL THE BABIEZ

srsly though, that was a little weird.

Do as Chris Rock says and heavily tax bullets. At $5,000 per shot people will think seriously about whether they want to fire or not.

I really don't like Issue #059: Drunk Driving On The Rise, because none of the options adequately address the problem for me. Two of them are various ways to prevent people from drinking alcohol entirely, and the other option is the death penalty for drunk drivers. :palm: A better option would be some education program to ensure that people who drink don't drive while drunk. Or funding research into some sort of device that prevents drunk people from starting their car. In any case, this is the second time I'm going to end up dismissing this issue because its ways of addressing the problem suck.

I thought the same thing a few weeks (months?) ago when I got this one. What I would have liked to see is the option to (permanently?) revoke driving privileges for someone who was convicted. The benefit here would be obvious for mass-transit proponents, as that would provide the only means of transportation for them. Then the backhanded detriment (there always is at least one) would be a decrease in alcoholic beverage sales or drop in automobile purchases and/or mass transit systems becoming overcrowded with rowdy, belligerent drunks. Kind of like how they are in Tampa.

That's an interesting point you raised. Thanks for posting!

As good as it's gonna get. Considering the number of issues it's a VERY tedious job to manually run through all of them and make sure any wording/spelling changes made are reflected in this list. I'm (slowly but surely) working on solving that problem structurally though.

Question: I've seen various issues that affect specific industries, but I haven't seen one that directly affects the Woodchip Exports industry. Is that just because Woodchip Exports is the inverse of Environment spending or something?

It's probably because no one has written one.
