I've got the waste senario were I'm given an opportunity to increase stricter waste dumping laws or I could allow the companies to dump their waste as they see fit:

What, in your opinion should I do?

in my opinion there isn't a good option given for that issue, so I just 'dismiss' it.

Dismiss the issue. Stricter laws will ding your Economy as some Corporations move out to nations with less Environmental concerns. Softer laws results in more pollution (with maybe a small + to the Economy). I didn't like either choice, so I went with the status quo by Dismissing it.

I got that issue a very long time ago. I decided the second option and it did not effect the economy much. If your really stuck dismiss the issue.

We allowed the corporations free reign and our nation is doing incredibly well. Don't dismiss the issue; seize the opportunity to expand your economy.

It's obviously not the governments main concern nor should the government be involved in it. Dismiss it nothing good will come from either choice.
