Your ***** workers are on strike!

Postby Louisaine » Sun May 17, 2009 7:30 pm

Every so often I get an issue that says the workers from such-&-such industry are on strike for "fair" wages. Their wage demands don't really look all that fair, and whenever I give them what they want, it says that my nation is plagued by daily strikes. :x The only other alternative, though, appears to be to break the strike and give employers the right to fire workers without cause! :o I think that this is really extreme.

I think that this issue should be rewritten to allow more options like "negotiate a fair wage with the union", "let the union and management work it out on their own", "send the dispute to arbitration" and things like that. The two solutions in this issue (which seems to come up a lot)are just way too extreme, and there needs to be some choices and middle ground.

Could the issue writing / issue editing team please think about changing this one?

The issues are specifically designed to be extreme and give unexpected results, this helps to make it more fun.

Who said wage demands were ever fair?

<Beddgelert> if that were true, i'd never have woken up with pockets full of ketchup

Below the last option for each issue you'll see a 'Dismiss this option' box: Click on that, and for this issue you effectively would be letting "the union and management work it out on their own"...

What's the ***** supposed to mean?

Yootopia- "On a scale of one to hard, it's Ron Jeremy after 6 viagras."
Greater Americania- "I just want all of you to f*** off so I can go back to asserting myself over weaker nations"
Chumblywumbly-
"Every sperm is sacred.
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
God gets quite irate."

I think that (s)he means “fill in the blank” or “wildcard”. Every time one gets this issue, it appears to be workers in some different industry. Other nations I’ve talked to always get workers from different sectors than me, as well. Or maybe (s)he just doesn’t like his/her working class. :?:

Think about it: A major industry goes on strike. The government steps in and ensures the workers win.

Now look at it from the angle of the workers of another industry: "Hey! If it worked for them, then it can work for _us_!" Boom. Strikes everywhere you look.

The flip side is just as bad: Management everywhere sees it as an opportunity to cut wages and benefits if Government ruled against Labor.

As suggested, sometimes the best answer is no answer at all. Dismiss the issue.
