an issue with a lopsided issue

Postby Zenocolonies » Wed Jul 01, 2009 2:10 pm

From my understand there should be 3 options with an issue but putting that aside for the moment I want to point out the obvious bias with the issue "Harry Potter Censorship Row". It is clear this is just an offensive rant against Christians. I would like to propose this issues be modified in the following way.

The Issue

The latest "Harry Potter" book to hit schools across Zenocolonies has stirred up the greatest controversy yet.

EDITED TO READ: The books "Harry Potter" and "Tom Saywer" available in schools across Zenocolonies has stirred up the greatest controversy yet.

The Debate

"I quite enjoyed the book, until I got to the part where Harry summons evil demons to do his bidding," says religious leader Pete Jones. "Now that's just wrong. We need to restore some sense to this debate, by which I mean we should remove this book from the shelves, salt it thoroughly, and burn it."

EDITED TO READ: "I quite enjoyed the books, until I got to the part where Harry summons evil demons to do his bidding and Tom uses incendiary racial insults." says religious leader Pete Jones. "Now that's just wrong. We need to restore some sense to this debate, by which I mean we should remove these books from the shelves, salt them thoroughly, and burn them."

Teachers union President Akira Christmas says, "Come on, the book is fantasy! And it's a damn good read. I'd like the government to issue a statement of support for our teachers and librarians, so kids can enjoy good books without interference from religious wackos, like Christians."

We don't do retrospective edits unless they're really, quite badly needed. But an issue on censoring racial issues in schoolbooks sounds interesting. Maybe you should write one? Maybe expand it to include other sensitive topics.

Excuse me??? "...or liberals"? It would be the _Liberals_, if anyone, that would be campaigning for less censorship.

If you read the FAQ, you'll notice that the content of the site could quite possibly be biased towards the Almighty Max's opinions. I agree with you, but the issues are supposed to be satirical; I think you should deal with it. But I'd be interested to see the issue you'd write up...
