[DRAFT]To The Flohr

Postby Unified Democratic Europe » Mon Aug 16, 2021 7:38 am

This is my first time ever attempting to write an issue, sooo.... here it goes.
[title]To The Flohr
[description]Salmon Flohr, @@NAME@@'s best chess player, has been selected to play in the "East Lebatuck vs. The World" tournament which is scheduled to be held in East Lebatuck. However, the president of the @@DEMONYMADJECTIVE@@ Chess Federation, @@RANDOMNAME@@ has refused to allow Flohr to travel over to East Lebatuck. Both of them are now in your office to discuss this matter.
[validity]does not have the "no emigration" policy

[option1]"@@LEADER@@, you must understand why I did this." says the president, playing a chess game with Flohr. "We cannot allow our players to become influenced by the East Lebatuckese. Would you like it if they decided to stay there? I'm calculating your answer is 'no'! Ban our chess players from going to extremist countries!"
[effect]chess players are between a rook and a hard place

[option2]"This is ridiculous!" says Flohr, while beating the president 2-0. "Chess knows no borders! Would Halekfine become the famous player he is without playing in East Lebatuck? What about Karlson? Kapiblanka? You cannot restrict our freedom to play in other countries! Allow any chess player to go wherever they want."
[effect]people risk their safety in order to mate

[option3]"Why don't we just suggest that the tournament is held here in @@NAME@@?" asks your nephew, who overheard your conversation from the other room. "With some generous donations towards the International Chess Federation, along with a huge advertisement campaign and making chess a subject in elementary school, we will have so much prestige in the chess board! Plus, imagine how many tourists will visit our nation. So much prestige! Consider that, @@LEADER@@."
[effect]@@NAME@@ is known as the "chess capital of the world"

[option4]Suddenly, you receive a call from Bobber Fisher, an infamous player from Bigtopia who is notorious for being extremely racist. As you open the phone, he immediately starts talking: "I object to being called a chess genius because I consider myself to be an all-around genius who just happens to play chess, which is rather different. A piece of garbage like Flohr might be called a chess genius, but he's like an idiot savant. Outside of chess, he knows nothing. East Lebatuckese players are agreeing to draw each other before the tournament starts, everyone knows that. Instead of tolerating their corruption, declare war on East Lebatuck. Destroy their fields, assassinate their chess players and-" You hang up on the phone."
[effect]chess is often used as a casus belli against nations

East Lebatuck vs. The World" tournament which is scheduled to be held in East Lebatuck.

seems a bit redundant, no? I'll keep reading.

Your nation probably needs capitalist leanings for this I imagine, since socialists are pretty friendly with East Lebatuck.

Ah, wow, I really did not notice that issue when I was writing this one! Thanks for pointing that out, I think that is sufficient criticism.
