Medical Drug Issues

Postby Scottalorain » Sat Jul 10, 2021 11:30 pm

Can the mods please make it to where an issue is debating medical availability of a drug, and you chose to make it medically available, it doesn’t take away your policy of no drugs?

This issue can be answered by an issue editor, so here I am. I can tell you that No Drugs is what we call a pseudo-policy. Basically, there is no on/off switch, it will turn on or off when the backstage stats pass certain levels. What this means is (to quote my colleague in the Unusual Effects Thread):
Also the pseudopolicies are based upon specific interpretations of backstage stats, which have sometimes been used beyond those interpretations. For example, drug-related pseudopolicies has descriptive text implying that it is just about recreational drugs, whereas for a very long time we've also used the stat it references to also refer to freedom to use drugs of all sorts, including medicines and painkillers. So you might allow someone to use painkillers, and cancel No Drugs.

Basically, the pseudo-policies are a known bug.

Another issue to make drugs illegal should come along at some point.

For more information, please read the OP of the thread linked, especially under: "Why did THIS policy switch on or turn off out of line with the issue's story?"
